Raw Denim in the District - Why???

I am really grateful that I live right near the Denim Bar (both locations) and the new Farinelli's store in Arlington, VA. Does anyone know why these two heavy hitters in the denim world chose the DC metro area to put their locations? The reason I ask is because I find it ironic...I never see anyone around the district wearing raw/selvedge denim. Maybe I am just not hanging out in the right circles but it really does seem foreign here to most people. I visit NYC and it is everywhere up there. Anyone have any thoughts?

Online sales I would assume allow them to locate anywhere they choose.

Few stores in the area - good opportunity! Also, where are you looking for raw denim? You're not going to find it in downtown DC, but I definitely see people on the college campuses (Georgetown, Mason) sporting everything from Nudies to IHxSEs.

d.c.'s a city full of transients, a lot of the "hip" kids (not "hipsters") who tend to know a lot about fashion don't necessarily run in the same circles, but believe me, they exist. i say the city's full of transients because most of its nightlife is populated by people who actually live in maryland or virginia, and i suppose in those areas are pockets of people who are into quality clothing. i work near the boltbus/megabus stops in downtown d.c. and more often than not see a good number of well-dressed folks coming to and from new york.

another explanation could be that areas like mclean, va. have a pretty high concentration of wealth, so there's a lot of money floating around in these here parts, which is why luxury stores tend to thrive, if not make bank.
