I'm planning on ordering a pair of APC jeans from Denimbar before they raise their prices (which they already have or will be doing soon, from what I heard). Measured, I'm about a 31-32 waist (although down to a 30 1/2 was measured comfortably), but I wear size 30 jeans (31 in Seven and Gap's 1969), so I'm guessing either a size 28 or 29. But this isn't the main part of the question. I don't have any stores in the area (at all...) that sell APC, so I don't know which model would be the best. I'm not looking for a skin-tight pair, but not baggy, either. Most of my shirts aren't super-tight, so the skin-tights won't work too well. Also, since I'm wanting to get nice distress on these, I don't want them too slack that it'd be a waste to get raw denim. I was told both New Standards and Rescues would be good choices, but not much information was given to back this up. What do you guys recommend?

Well, I don't own any APC and I've only tried on the Hipster so I can only say so much. The Hipster is apparently cut just like the New Standard, just with a lower rise. The Hipster ranks pretty high on my tightness meter. I may have tried them on a size too small, but I'd say you may want to size up (i.e. buy your normal size) if you go with the New Standard. Just my experience though :p Personally, I'd take a look at the Rescues. This thread may be helpful: http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=12248

If you measured my best fitting pair of pants, they would measure 15" flat across the waistband. A 27 New Standard fits me perfectly.

the new standards can (apparently) be worn slightly baggier by sizing down less than most would, although if i didn't have particularly slim shirts i'd go for the rescues, they're more suitable. easier to match stuff with them.

i think some people on here and ST have said that regular jeans also wear in nicely, not everything has to be painted on to have gorgeous fades.

i'm about your size as well, i'm 29 in diesel zathans and i'm doing 27 new standard. they certainly fit nicely after they've stretched to your body.

I'm a 31 true waist and I have a pair of New standards in 29. Coincidentally, I'm selling them. PM me if you're interested.

What's the fit of the APC New Standards? Is it a slim-fit jeans or is it pretty democratic? I'd like to get a hold of a pair, but I don't want to look stupid in it either.

By the way, what's the prices of the Denimbar and is he shipping to Canada?

They are slim. I am a 32 waist and wear 30s and have girls tell me that they are "tight" or "too tight" - what do they know? [IMG]

What's your build? Are you muscular? I am a pretty thin guy and have a waist 29/30 waist, don't know the 'true waist size' exactly.

Perhaps I should go to Boutique U&I in Montreal, try some out and order them on the internet if the price is too high in Montreal.

i have a true 32 measured waist, i wear size 30s in most jeans and 28s in NS. I am 6'1", 165 lbs. I'm not small but I still don't take up a whole lot of space, especially in my lower body.

    The 28s fit me like:

but not they're a little bit looser, due to that picture being taken 2 or 3 days after i got them.

    Body type reference:

    hope that helps

Okay, I think I could go for either 27 or 28 or something. I am 5'8 and 125lbs, so yeah, I am small. As in 'some non-designer brand's small is too big for me' kind of small. [IMG]

For further reference I also wear a 28 in NS and am also 5'8" but slightly bigger than you (something like 135lbs, size 29-30). I'd say it depends on the fit you want but I personnally prefer the two sizes down fit to the "three-four sizes down and no breathing space left" fit. APC NS aren't made to be ultra tight and they look weird that way. They're still way slim though and definitely not for everyone. Oh and go try them at U&I, you might also like the "cure/tight".

Thanks a lot. How much are these retailing at U&I? I think I'll stop by MontrÃ[IMG]al in May so I could buy a pair there if it fits me.

I am in Montreal, and last time I was in U&I, they had a VERY small selection of APCs. ie. one pair of new standards in washed grey, and one pair of rescues in waist 38. No raw NS or anything. Plus, they retail there for about 270CAD if I remember correctly.
If mine don't fit you, I'd definitely order them from Denimbar, Mauro will know what size to get you, and unfortunatley I doubt if you'll be able to try on an appropriate jean at U&I.

I haven't checked their stock of APC recently so they might be out, sorry I hadn't thought of that, they don't order a lot so sometimes they have near to nothing left. As for the pricing they were pretty competitive but still higher priced on APC jeans last time I checked so obviously not $270, maybe more like $170-180.
