Back in 1981 I saw a strange double-bill concert of Tom Petty and Split Enz.

That would have been jarring. Imagine if it had been in the '70s, when Split Enz where in their make-up and arty weird clothes phase.

I saw Petty in a double-bill with Jackson Browne in Concord, CA. That was a much better line-up, I suspect.

It was a strange mix. I think that it was just the timing...both bands were touring through and the city wasn't big enough to support two concerts on the same night.

There was some animosity between the two sets of fans. I went because of Split Enz but stuck around for Tom Petty also.

iPod Random on the train home tonight:

1. Right Here, Right Now - Fatboy Slim. (I've gone off him. He has no clue who to end a song).
2. Somebody's Baby - Jackson Browne
3. Five Easy Pieces - Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. (Utter crap - second album syndrome strikes)
4. Bottle Rocket - The Go! Team
5. Like Wow (Wipeout) - Hoodoo Gurus. (A certified undeniable classic Aussie rocker)
6. Coracao Tambor - Ian Pooley feat Rosanna and Zelia
7. Cattle and Cane - The Go-Betweens. (What a fantastic song! So sad that Grant McClennan died this year, just as they were resurrecting their career).
8. That's Entertainment - The Jam (My favourite Jam song).
