Langargian is front squatting, quads are definitely involved.

I don't really find quads to be the limiting factor in the back squat. They're obviously used and they get sore afterwards, but if I miss a squat it's from loosing tension through my upper back, lower back, core and falling forward and not being able to drive up.

    "barely involved at all"

Ok, dude, ok. This isn't a discussion worth having. GL with your non-quad squatting endeavors.

This is like when key board warriors who like mark ripptoe/ dave tate/ louie simmons ass hole think that the bench press is a lat movement and the chest isn't involved at all. Quads extend the knee, you are extending the knee when you squat quads are used when you squat.

The blue ones are older models that everyone seems to like better. I used the new model grey one when I olympic lifted and loved them.

Thanks man, will think about getting a pair. Awfully expensive. Might just do some leg extensions and hope the pain goes away.

Used, sure, but not a source of much strength. Properly executed squats are a posterior chain exercise. Squatting strength comes from hip extension, generated by hamstrings and glutes, not from knee extension generated by quads. The posterior chain is significantly more powerful. If you are squatting with decent form, you will never miss a lift because of insufficient quad strength.

Front squat is fun. Second only to Overhead Squat for me.

Doesn't this depend on your stance?

Sounds like you'll make a good centre back then. If you can hack, push and jump you'll make a decent CB.

Yes and no. While it is possible to squat in such a way as to emphasize quad use, doing so gets you out of the realm of good squat technique. There are body builders who do this, but a) it doesn't do much for functional strength, and b) puts horizontal pressure on the knees which makes the movement significantly more likely to cause injury.

There's really no reason to squat in such a way so as to emphasize quads. Knee extension isn't where the power is.

old rehbands (7mm blue ones) are way better

mfw rehbands smell like fucking death no matter how much you wash them

also have to build some jerk blocks for the gym, should be a fun project - having a few beers with our lifters and building them.
