Starting strength is so boring. Have gained about 5lb in 3 weeks, but i dont really feel stronger on my lifts, especially bench which is already getting heavy and my next workout will only be 50kg. I need to get stronger but i will admit i am A) struggling with motivation to do SS and B) struggling to prepare and eat 4000+ calories per day. Constantly feel bloated and need a shit all the time.

Take a week off. It won't help with boredom, but you'll be itching to get a workout in.

And 4000 calories but 50kg bench.. hrm what are your other lifts like?

I squatted 70kg for sets and deadlifted 100kg for 5 reps today. 1rm last time i checked are roughly 60kg bench, 90kg squat, 135kg deadlift.

What's your full week's workout sched? SS is a very low-upper-body program, modifying a bit can help out.

If you're going to do SS try adding in some other upper body work throughout the week, namely bench a few days away from a bench day (eg: if you bench friday, add bench to your monday lifts). What you need at such a low weight is basically a fuckton of reps. Also post a vid because there's probably things in your form that can be modified to help.

While I was doing some OHP saw a guy walk into the gym probably 5'8 pretty stout, pushing 200lbs with a little pudge. He has his weightlifting belt and wrist wraps in hand. I'm thinking, "alright this guys is about to get down to business." He walks over to the cable machine tosses on his wrist strap and proceeds to do every angle imaginable of cable flies, tricep press, one arm tricep press, etc...... for an hour.

Unfortunately, your version of the story is more believable than him doing heavy squats and deadlifts.

Didn't have gloves yesterday during my DLs - last set tore the palm of my left hand apart, skin flaking off from the textured section on the olympic bar, blood dripping down my hand.

    :feelsgoodman:

Trying to wash it out afterwards:
