Not to sound like an ass, but you should warm up for your bench by doing bench. Say if you're doing 3x5 @ 135#:

    2x5 @ 45#
    1x5 @ 65#
    1x3 @ 90#
    1x2 @ 120#

then your working sets. Then do some face pulls.

Well, SPBR tends to state that you should stick with the same weights and progress the next week by adding weight.

FWIW, today was a good workout--

    Pre-
    Rotator-Cuff
    5 @ 1x25/ea.#
    Shoulder Dislocation
    3x6#
    Face-Pull
    40 @ 3x6#

    Bench
    135 @ 1x5#
    145 @ 2x5#
    Incline dumbbell
    40 @ 4x8#
    Dumbbell Shoulder Press
    30 @ 3x8#
    Dips
    3x6#
    Tricep (Pulley)
    70 @ 3x10#

    Weigh in: 152

The pre-workout lifts really helped. I finished everything unlike last week where I failed on some sets.
Will do the same pre-workout everyday. Regarding the face-pull I just have to review the stance, kind of forgot how I should be standing. My elbows were pretty level to my shoulder and I pulled it up to the bridge of my nose. Going to decrease the weights on the face-pull and increase reps. Will also stick with 140lb 3x5 on the bench next week. Got to be mindful of the dips, careful to dip too low when elbows fall past 90 degrees. Hurts shoulders man

The weird format is capy+paste from google docs

wow i edited everything, what a geek

Toasty, SPBR says to warm up before doing your working sets. It is implied that you're supposed to warm up similar to how I described in my last post, but you don't know this because you didn't read or do a basic barbell strength building program ala SS/SL. *sigh*

that is my warmup though. that mentioned plus the bar before attempting my lifts e.g.

    Pre-workout
    +
    1x10 @ 45#
    then,
    1x5 @ 135#
    2x5 @ 145#

hm, not sure how to say this but i do the bare minimum when warming up..

lol whatever. Nevermind. I fully expect someone to chime in in the morning telling me to let you do whatever the fuck you want to do, mind my own goddamn business, Mark Rippetoe is a dumbass, I'm a dumbass, etc.

In other news, went to the gym on very little sleep and generally had a shit workout. However, I witnessed some guy roughly my size (read: not big) damn near decapitate himself trying to bench 3 plates PLUS a 25 after pumping himself up for 5 minutes. When he was loading the bar, I looked around to see if anyone else was paying attention... NOPE. Got ready to sprint over but the lower hooks on the bench (not a safety device) caught the bar as soon as he unracked it.

and bacon, fwiw, from seeing some of your waywt you seem like a pretty slim dude. was surprised to see you start lifting regimen. it's cool reading everyone's progress however little or much we can relate to each other.

I think I care because I see you making the same mistakes I did, but not fixing them. Never mentioned it on this board at all, but at the end of 2010, I was about 137# (and wearing APC NS sz28). Last Monday morning (bone dry), 162#. I'm sure a good amount of that is fat, but I learned to stop caring. Nothing in my closet fits anymore and have been too lazy to post all my Geller shit. My brother donated a pair of APC NS sz30 to me so I don't go to work without pants on... and they're starting to get tight.

Sadly, this is basically the only thread I check here anymore.

FUUUUUUU. Mate convinced me that instead of doing 122.5kg box squat doubles I should do 140kg. Got through 2 sets fine. 3rd set I get the 1st rep and fell forward on the 2nd rep and have to roll the bar off the my back and onto the pins. Lower back is killing me now. How to stop walking like a cripple?

I think that's the first time I've ever seen anybody refer to him as Getto.

Reminds me of the Shadynasty joke from It's Always Sunny.
