Oats aren't evil. They're just cheap and plentiful so it's easy to recommend them to everyone. I just think you could probably find a higher quality source of protein.

It's weird I can do like 16-18 pulls/chins but it's somewhat uneven. My left side seems to struggle and my biomechanics are somewhat off and favoring the right side. I've only recently noticed this, how to correct?

I thought mgm came in here from WDYELNFD just to troll us but he's actually serious.

mgm, oats are used primarily as a slow digesting carb. Nuts/nut butter is rich in healthy fat. Both are nutrient dense (and contain some protein) but I highly doubt anyone here uses them as primary sources of protein (unless they don't eat meat). Obviously chicken, beef, eggs, fish, etc is better.

Or did you just successfully troll my ass?

No troll. I'm just curious. I used to eat a bowl of steel cut oats every morning for like a year and a half. I also used to run 7 miles every morning. I was thin and weak. I stopped eating oats, and stopped running altogether, started eating more protein and fat, and I got bigger and stronger without lifting hardly ever. Ya, I know that's just anecdotal and that everything varies from individual to individual, but I'm actually curious as to what oats do specifically to help build muscle. I know they are a slow digesting carb. But why does that matter? What's the recommendation based on?

Energy to workout, calories, enough fiber to get me to my next meal, etc. Low protein diet and long distance running obviously = weak and emaciated.

I'd consult a chiropractor. Weird shiz up in your back can completely throw you off physically.

Oh god damn it, mgm is one of the people who made this thread virtually unreadable for days at a time last year.

Is that unique to oats, though? Wouldn't bacon fill you up? Calories and energy? You do love it, don't you?

I like oats with some honey, peanut butter and milk. I also like eating pop tarts and oreos. Both are contribuing to my gains :slayer: Some people should just eat their damn food and stop worrying so much.

Westside barbell crew probably doesn't care about those kind of things, they'll just tell you to eat food, and lots of it. And with success.

Why do you eat pop tarts and Oreos? I would imagine they are contributing to your gains. Have you looked at your ass in a mirror lately?

You don't get "stronger" by not lifting. This is idiotic. You might have gained some muscle mass simply because you stopped forming high amounts of slow-twitch muscle fiber required for endurance running.
