Put 30kg dumbbells overhead for a tripple. Feels good man. It's weird a couple months ago I was doing 18s, but I've just forced myself to keep increasing the weight and it keeps going up. Wraps really helped that, much more then on bench.
355 + 90# chains for 2 sets of 3 on squats today. Wooooo. And that was after box squats.
I think I'm gonna see how the minimalist running jam works for me. Any experiences/recs/tips for shoes?
I just recently took up on it, loving it so far. Vibrams are the standard and if you're gonna look into them go for the KSO's. They're the least padded ones.
Look into pose running method beforehand so you have any idea of what to expect. I posted this yesterday in the running thread, but don't exclusively run on your foorefot. Let your heel gently make contact with the ground as well. Oh and if you're a pretty active runner as is, when you first take up minimalist running, go easy with the mileage. I mean... 10% of what you normally run and gradually work your way up. It takes a *long* time for your joints/tendons to strengthen. Your calves will also be more sore than usual.
In other news, god I had such a shit workout today. Left shoulder is acting up again, had to bail on the last rep of squat. Didn't even bother to do OH presses today. I definitely need to take some time off and reassess the situation.
Similar thing happened to me earlier this year. Ice, ibuprofen, and avoiding the gym (or at least, anything remotely using shoulders) and I was better in a week.
I love gyms where they actively seek out and bitch about you exercising barefoot. REALLY makes me want to drop plates on their shoes. "Oh you mean your shoes DIDN'T stop me from breaking your toes? Who the fuck would have ever expected that?"
Guy at that gym today was justifying not doing dumbbell military press because the dumbbells he would use would be too big and they would touch before he finished his ROM. Guy could maybe put 45s up? The stuff people think of to not do proper lifts.
Yes, I've been trying to find the study that showed that caffeine preworkout somehow reduced the likelihood/severity of DOMS but I found one that says it helps (about 2 cups of coffee, 5mg/kg) 24/48 hours afterwards.
Damn, I'm really surprised that Lu Yong bombed out in the WWC. Well, at least one of my predictions was so far correct, Xiaojun took gold. Watching the competition is a pretty good motivator to get my ass in the gym and snatch some more.
Kinda burnt out at the moment, havent been to the gym since wednesday and havent been as precise as usual with my eating. Got a lot else going on at the moment, i guess it wont be bad to drop the intensity of eating/lifting for a week or so, ready to get right back into it afterwards.
