Random health and exercise thoughts

    that's pretty much all i do. I just want to be good at cardio

    maybe once the shin splints become unbearable i'll go on the bike or something. My heart/lungs can keep going, it's my legs that can't.


    Rowing machine and be done with it.

    Speaking of, got back on an erg for the first time in a long while. Did 5k @ 1:58 without max effort. Pretty pleased with that after months of almost zero cardio. Excited to be an athlete again, instead of just a fat lard that pushes weight around.

    stupid fast rowers abusing leverage and sitting above their boats *grumble* Edit: fuuuu I'm racing 4km tonight. Goal is to a) win, b) do 4km faster than RJ did his 5. Should be... semi-doable.

    On water in a K1. I've only had 20km at most on the water this year, and this was on slightly choppy water. I blasted off the line, level with the two guys I was hoping to race with, but after about 500m I started to slow down - technically I'm a bit rusty and I had trouble working in unstable conditions (I need moar swiss ball work right? [​IMG])... got maybe 10th? around 21:00 or so. Oh well. Still have a month + till the first real regatta.

    Goddammt. Is there any way to get better at running beyond "just keep doing it?" Today I could barely make 2 miles in 20 minutes before I had to stop due to the pain in my shins.

    Same thing happens to me when I try to run. From the research I've done it seems to be a muscular imbalance between overdeveloped calf and underdeveloped shin muscles. With training it can be corrected but I just don't run so i don't worry about it [​IMG]

    Boss just plunked a giant chunk of fresh-from-the-bakery cinnamon bun on my desk... Could it be possibly be the absolute worst thing to eat while on IF? With coffee nonetheless!

    using a 1 week guest pass at 24 fitness near my place. went last night for 3 hours. i just absorbed the place. upgraded equipment. nicer than last year. did conditioning with weights for an hour, treadmill for 40 minutes and then alternate cold shower/sauna for 40 minutes.
