1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Ughh... Just did the most vomit inducing squat variation, squats with 8 sec negative and 2 sec pause on pins at parallel. 6 sets of 4. Followed that up with 6 sets of RDL and then like 10 sets of bench.

I reckon I'll grow quite a lot from all this volume and increased calories.

Holy shit, gym brah let me use his inzer to dead lift today, I'm sold

But it's weird it simultaneously made me feel weaker and stronger all at once. Lockout was a fucking breeze, pulling off the ground was a lot harder. Those things HURT when they're pressing into your ribs

Teekay for bulk/cut cycle. Is 175lbs-187lbs enough? That would be 4 months bulk / cut cycle at 1 lb a week, 3 months of cutting or bulking than a month of maintenance. So I could potentially get 3 cycles in a year and slowly raising LBM.

That would be a good weight for me too, I can hang around 187 prior to my meets then taper back to a 182 or for meet day.

Sure. Anytime you gain weight and lift heavy you're going to make strength/size gains. Obviously a more drastic bulk will usually net more gains, but there's nothing wrong with a smaller bulk...particularly if you don't want to do a drastic cut.

Ok cool. Maybe I'll do a more drastic cut / bulk after doing these mini ones for awhile.

Edit: wrote a long post but realized I barely replied to Coldsnap.

What I was trying to say is that if you have 4 months to gain, you should spend most of that time bulking since you gain more muscle on a controlled bulk than you lose muscle on a good cut. I think 12 weeks is too short to go up 12 pounds and then drop down to the same bf%. 4 months = 17 weeks, you could bulk 12 pounds for 12 pounds gained, maintenance 2-4 weeks and then cut. You prob won't be able to cut down to the same bodyfat as pre-bulk in only 3 weeks.

I wouldn't do drastic cuts as a powerlifter though. Those cuts often lead to strength losses, which a BBer can get away with since they don't compete on strength. It would be very bad for the powerlifter. Better to hoover just above your weight class until a couple weeks out and then drop fat slowly and shed water weight the last week, like you wrote.

@conceptionist - ironically, after not bothering me for months, my back/hip has been killing me this week. I'm hoping it's just DOMS aggravating something after deadlifts + yoga and it's nothing serious. Skipped squats and had a total bro upper body day today

    Sorry to hear that.
Maybe you should try that rehab routine I posted.
Try to see if foam rolling and releasing trigger points in the psoas, QL and erectors make it feel better.
Stretch the quads and hip flexors and stay as active as you can. Walking instead of taking the bike and using a standing desk did wonders for me. Squats and deadlifts today were completely pain free.

    Some lolzy stuff happened today.

I emailed my grand dad a photo of my lat spread and this was his reply

" the picture of your back is great, with your height and over two hundred pounds, you are an impressive dude. But I would hasten to remind you that a muscle-bound persona is so retro, Arnold Schwasnegger as Mr. Mr. Atlas was in fashion in the 1960's, now a muscular hunk is out !
    Love you.

    GungGung"

I guess that's that time to stop lifting, it's not fashion.

Also I've noticed since my uni got the new gym with all the eleiko shit, loads of platforms, racks and squat stands there has been a massive increase in the number of people wearing oly shoes. Even those $170 ugly as fuck reebok ones, like maybe 1/5 people wear them. Also a lot more athlete shit like leggings and putting tape in random places. This is all well and good, but none of these people squat or do oly lifts. Just seeing loads of people in adipowers doing curls.

Saw this guy at the gym today, he was on the stationary bike for about 20 minutes then left. Why are you wearing oly shoes, knee wraps and tights on a stationary bike? Is that not uncomfortable as fuck? I undo my oly shoes between sets because they are so uncomfortable, shit crushes my feet.

My whole lumbar spine on my left side is a big bruise. Think I went a bit over board the past few days with the lacrosse ball, but it feels amazing to work that area since I've been neglecting it so long. Pulled 315 for a fast four, then did some beltless work, pause front squats, and step ups. No complaints from the back or hip.

    GungGung is a sweet name.
