Deadlifting, something flat soled, deadlift socks, or barefeet.

Squats, something flat soled or oly shoes depending on your stance, bar position, and mobility. Unless you're Daniel Green, in that case you can do whatever the fuck you want and squat low bar with a wide stance in oly shoes lol

    This question is from a friend of mine who started lifting just a few weeks ago;

"Whenever I get under the bar for a squat it really hurts my chest/shoulder area when my hands are pulled back to hold the bar. It hurts whether my hands are close to my ears are further away, towards the plates. Is there something I can do to minimize the pain? Is my chest just not used to having such a stretch? Do you think I'll get used to it over time? I just don't want to be one day performing a squat and pull something in my chest/shoulder and drop the weights on myself."

Tell him to move his grip wider if he's not flexible/mobile enough to grab the bar.

When you're done with this we can talk about why it is or isn't applicable to the original question. You do the work first, though.

I scratch the top layer off whenever I'm in the shower but you can file them off too.. sandpaper would work fine.

This is how I squat, did not know it was particularly unusual.

Can't be fucked to find the variance, doesn't seem to be common knowledge. It would be applicable, it would show that the results from measuring blood pressure with a large cuff follow the known distribution of blood pressure therefore making the large cuff accurate at measuring blood pressure.

Nah, I was exaggerating. I squat like that too.. well close but not that wide.. I'm like 2" inches in on his stance.

Do you go as wide as Daniel Green does? If so, strong and flexible adductors.

You wear oly shoes when you squat too? I actually squat a little bit wider. I'm guessing thats a standard width power rack and that's just an 8' bar. I usually have the top of my foot touching the side of the rack or if like that rack the sides aren't touching the ground then a little bit outside. My sumo pull form seems to look like his too.

That vid made me have an epiphany

Theres 3 forms of pure expression

    Sex
    Sports (especially motorcycle racing)
    Powerlifting

I dont know anything about that dude except that he can squat 700+ lbs for reps. Barring him being a creep/psycho I feel compelled to respect him.

Theres so much bullshit in day to day life. But when it comes to powerlifting, you either can lift the weight or you can't. Motorcycle racing is an hour long game of 150 MPH chicken. Sex is another story

That vid was refreshing tho. Sorry about the rant

You are literally dragging this out solely for the sake of argument.
