powerlifter guy had me overload the bar (+100lb) during bench press and do 20sec static holds with elbows slightly unlocked and then a very slow negative on the way down. my back is all kinds of sore 2 days later.

ironwoody sells them for a decent price, half of what most other retails would. i shipped mine to the usa and picked them up at a shipping depot.

roguefitness is also clearing out their adidas powerlifts for 70 bux

    Any advantage here over barefoot?

I tried to buy a mini deadlift jack ($65) but shipping was $28... when I asked about cheaper shipping, the guy told me how amazing it was that they could ship it across the country for only $28 AND I could even track it... fuck that. Coldnsap, you ever in Cary? :smarmy:

Charly, you ever come across the old york split sleeve bars for sale? None out this way :(

You should get those powerlifts. Yea, I'm competing in Cary at that West Cary Barbell and go there to eat sometimes.

What's the advantage though? Slight heel lift?

http://www.westcarybarbell.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=25 :) But if you were to get hit with tax and doesn't fit in flat rate box... not worth it to proxy

Tried box squats this morning. Felt easier than normal squats, is that usual? I do need to build a real box though, my bench at 17" is a couple inches too high.

Vsli that prob could fit into a flat rate box and I don't think he would charge me tax. He's a cool guy. My gym has like 30 of those York split sleeves they are all brown and rusted haha. Crappy bars imo, too thin.

Got a great deal on that from Scott :)

Don't know what's next. I was thinking about a swiss bar actually, something like this: http://www.blackwidowtg.com/Swiss_Bar_Football_Bar_p/bar-swiss.htm

What you think? I was also planning on getting a squat bar some time down the road (30mm, not a ssb... but one of those couldn't hurt), deadlift bar never crossed my mind.

My gym is getting a bunch of speciality bars next year. It's quite exciting. We're getting 5 rogue squat racks with platforms, bars and bumpers new dbs and benches as well. Getting rid of the machines and most of the cardio stuff. Gym manager is really into cross fit, he's a massive rim. Always putting up little challenges involving 20" box jumps and db snatches.

Probably not a good thing, but my nephew had a cup of coffee with me before our workout and totally demolished all his lifts haha... I don't want him getting addicted, but now he's like, "I understand why you drink coffee now."

Depends on what you're trying to accomplish. If you want to compete in powerlifting, a deadlift bar is going to be more useful than a swiss bar.
