It's still way to early to tell how CBL will effect my body comp, but I can say it feels pretty good so far. Woke up, skipped breakfast, had about a pound of turkey breast for lunch around 1pm, then did Angie at about 6pm. Workout kicked my ass, especially as I've let my conditioning go some over the last few months, but after eating four bananas fried up in some grassfed butter and a little brown sugar, I felt better almost immediately. This is a big change for me. Usually, longish metcons leave me feeling wiped for a few hours afterwards.
I thought I was the only person who was allowed to use this thread to discuss there sex life.
Funny man, but I guess I'm the only one in here who does the odd Crossfit workout. Angie is 100 pullups, 100 pushups, 100 situps, 100 air squats for time.
Got a chubby untrained bro who wants to get in shape/be aesthetic. I'm recomending he do a strength training program -> hypertrophy program to get a nice base of muscle and then cut. But I want to give him the option of cutting down and then bulking up to be aesthetic but my experience in those matters is not very great.
For option 1 I'm thinking
SS/SL for 6-8 weeks at +500 cals--> a 3-day hypertrophy split for 6-8 weeks +500 cals --> LG-style cut with RPT till he's shredded. That should make him look pretty good by summer.
but for option 2 i'm not sure. How do you combine strength training and weight loss? Just put him on a deficit and tell him to do SS/SL? What happens when he stalls out? And what kind of macros do you do?

He probably doesn't have as much muscle as either of you think he does. Just bulk to be on the safe side. It's winter, anyways, so he should end his cut by the summer.
You've got another thing coming if you think someone untrained is going to look good by summer.
Oh I don't expect him to look particularly good, but if he would rather slim down generally without regard for having much muscle I want to be able to tell him how to do that wrt diet and training
If he's a complete noob he can do strength training without a calorie surplus for the first 6-12 months. Noob gains are not to be underestimated. This might be a better option for him, as it's hard to convince someone to bulk when they already feel fat and unaesthetic.
If he's as bad as he sounds, I wouldn't even think about discussing macros with him. He needs to make qualitative changes in his diet before he dives into the quantitative changes. Talk to him about eating lean meats and just healthier choices before you have him purchase a food scale. Otherwise, he'll do this for 2 weeks then decide its too hard and give up.
uhh... who cares if he doesn't have a whole lot of muscle mass, if he's ~20% BF then he doesnt need to jump on the RARRGHGH GET SWOLE BULK UP bandwagon. if he's untrained and new to this stuff that's a surefire way to end up a lardass, not to mention he could abuse newbie gains on a slight deficit at least.
"looking good" has different meanings for chubby folk; pretty sure i can't read minds but he might be happier dropping the fat first. whatever happened to "nobody has any business being over 15%?" every coach i've ever worked with has recommended dropping the fat first.
Hmmm, chest pain is not going away, may stay away from the gym for a few days and see if it goes away.
