zissou the best thing for you to do is to record your daily intake of calories. that should point out any sticking points. you could also just exercise more and eat what you've been eating

Working out at the gym tonight when I start doing pullups across from a hottie doing situps. After another few minutes she adjusts where she is and faces me in the mirror while she starts crunches with legs raised in the air. Intentional or happy coincidence?

DQ in most competitions, yes. I've seen some whose rules state the entire back and butt must be flat on the bench.

I should probably calculate this as best as I can. I'll admit, there's a random kitkat or ice cream thrown in from time to time, but all in moderation :)

Fair point, guys. I'll start with upping my half-assed push-up, sit-up, chin-up, dumbell routine. If any of you have weights advice for someone who doesn't necessarily want to get huge (and also mildly despises gyms), I'm all ears...

ORLY? I meant that, in addition to eating whole grains, I also moderate my carb intake. As an aside, I have a couple of friends, one vegetarian and one vegan, who run marathons. These two guys eat so much carbs that they have sizable guts. One of them routinely eats an entire loaf of bread (and only that) for lunch.

Yeah, I prefer to exercise more and not count calories. This all started with me complaining about the heat preventing me from doing so.

That's so gross. Personally, I avoid grains entirely. I know people who do fine with grains making up a smallish portion of their overall diet, but basing your diet around loaves of bread just.... ugh. So gross. Total destruction of normal digestive processes. And even if that weren't true, grains are totally over-rated from a nutritional point of view. Root vegetables are always the better option.

    This doesn't work.

Fuark I'm destroyed. Biked 2 miles to gym, did upper DC pretty much til I couldn't move my arms, managed to swim 10 laps, then biked home. Creatine better kick in or I'm gonna be absolutely useless tomorrow. Pounding coconut water and water all night. Designing a bulking diet too. Time to get huge.

Humans were never built to have a grain-based diet or even eat grains regularly.

actually - I believed that, too. there was an interesting article with an archeologist in the nytimes last month, I posted a link in the paleo thead. this guy specialises in the development of prehumans and early humans, and, what do you know? their diet was heavily based on grass which means, grains. so the whole paleo no grains thing isn't that clear cut.

Thanks. I definitely do need to add more squats and deadlifts to my regimen, but I have pretty poor form. Somehow when I'm descending (during squats) and ascending (deadlifts), I don't exactly go up straight, and my right leg ends up doing more of the work than the left leg. I posted about this before and it's frustrating because I can tell that even when I'm walking, or laying down, the alignment of my spine or something is throwing something off. I should get it checked out but.. I just haven't.

    Thank ya sir.

Correct, which is likely why lactose intolerance is so common...as is Celiac disease.

Interesting. To be honest I haven't read much about the subject in a several years and I tend to avoid carbs to begin with, but that's interesting if its true!
