I'm going to try the foam roller thing again as well, as my pathetic attempt to do a basic downward facing dog yoga pose exposed my lack of posterior chain flexibility.

    Cool- I hear that.

There was a real backlash from the "I'm too manly" set at first when rollers showed up at my gym, but now some of the biggest/best lifters are using them.

I'll certainly testify to their value.

Added RDL's to my leg routine. They rock, that is all.

A really great resource for all sorts of muscle release exercises is Kelly Starrett's MobilityWOD blogsite:

    http://mobilitywod.blogspot.com/

He's a DPT, and gives really sound physiological explanations of how and why each exercise is done, and there's something new every day. A lot of the stuff he talks about using the lacrosse ball (which hurts like hell) can be done with a foam roller, too.

    ^^

Interesting...I always wondered what those foam thingies were for, and the gym workers had no idea either. Now I must get one...

Was just about to link this--great resource.

Another good writeup/video for mobility work is a little more than halfway down this page:

My "train my friends at their gyms" tour of NYC gyms continues. This time was the Park Slope NYSC. 1 squatrack, no power rack, no bumper plates.

Fuck that place. I have a 1 week guest pass though.

Several reasons, mostly my prejudice of wanting to punch all crossfit people in the face, but listening to him saying "unglue" over and over again was the kicker.
