how much are you taking each day?
405 back squat
200 strict press
225 clean and jerk
The clean and jerk ought to be higher. Still recovering from wrist surgery in august. My front rack position is pretty tough to get into still.
25/200/81 twice daily.
when do you take it?
The first dose is about 10am, the second dosage is about 3pm.
That's how we were told to spot DB bench at my old gym to prevent the dumbells from falling on them or sth. Always thought it was weird.
Went to the gym with the intention of squatting 160kg for a single, got under the bar, felt fairly light, went for an easy tripple, went 162.kg easy double then maxed at 165 for a fairly easy single, could probably have done more if I didn't do the first 2 sets, feels good man. PR every day of the week so far.
Also my friend totaled 1022lb after 8 months of training at 165lb, is that reasonably competitive?
How often do you go for maxes on the squat
Erm usually work up to an 8rm on Tuesdays and a 2 or 3rm on Thursdays. Go for a 1rm when im feeling really strong, which is usually every other week on thursdays. Afterwards I take off like 5-10kg and do like 5x3 and some paused worked.
Competitive? I mean, with those numbers he should really just be competing against himself.
At a small, local meet, he might win his weight class if there is a not good show up of 165er's.
But at any larger meet or a smaller meet with any 165er with "competitive" numbers, 1022# is going to be less than most of the guys' warm ups.
A good way to look at it is, you're really going to be "competitive" until you total AT LEAST elite because, at a larger meet, there will be at least one guy totaling elite in each weight class.
80 years old.
I reckon in a year or 2 he could total elite, he's thinking of doing a meet with those lifts soon anyway, not gonna get the piss taken out of him with those lifts right?
It's never too early to do a meet if powerlifting is a passion of yours. The sooner the better.
If he's a younger guy (<23), he might even have a shot at breaking some federation state records. Which is always fun. That's what happened at my first meet (took my fed's state records for bench and deadlift).
