No, they're just the high end of evil.

There's a world of difference between massive chain restaurants, where the intent is to churn out a consistent product and take advantage of economies of scale, and local places where, sure, you order at a counter, pay $3 - $4 for your banh mi, and you get it in < 5 minutes, but they bake their own rice flour baguettes every morning and use a mix of fresh and house-pickled vegetables.

lol. still laughing after imagining toasty pulling out the hair, kinda looking at it, and then eating it

generalizing about food in the US as a whole doesn't make a lot of sense because it really varies depending on where you are. the US is a pretty big place. if you can't find good, fresh food in Houston or a city like that, that I can maybe understand. but if you're talking about not being able to find any in NYC or LA or something, I'll just say it's not the city's fault.

No, he's Australian and it is still equally lolworthy. There's good and bad food in both countries. Pretty fucking obvious that one.

P.s. what does "isn't full of vegetable protein" mean? You don't like legumes?

POPEYES IS KING OF FAST FOOD
Everything there is delicious and doesn't make me feel sick after eating it like at other places. Popeyes can be consumed sober or drunk. Every single person I've ever brought to Popeyes who have never had it before, instantly became addicted. Popeyes is nourishment. Popeyes is what you hope Heaven will taste like.

weird example, Houston has a ton of good restaurants.

My main pet peeve with food in the US isn't restaurants but supermarkets, especially when it comes to produce. Thankfully farmers markets seem to be growing in popularity. Also I seem to encounter either people who don't really care about food, and eat fast food way too regularly, or "foodies", who overthink and obsess about food to a strange degree. Also the bread here sucks, but that's something I gave up on long ago.

Eh, supermarkets have put themselves in an untenable position, especially when it comes to produce. They sell many produce items out of season year round, and people buy it, and they turn a profit off of it so there is no incentive for them to stop doing this. Take strawberries, for example. In my area of the country, good strawberries are in season only for about 4 weeks a year. That doesn't stop the grocery stores around here, however, from selling strawberries all year round, so that by the time strawberries are in season, most people don't even know what the hell a strawberry is supposed to taste like anymore. Farmer's Markets are nice, but depending on where you live, they probably only have something to offer you for 3-4 months a year. By December, the same place that was selling you heirloom tomatoes four months earlier is now selling Christmas Trees.

i didn't mean that it didn't. i would think any somewhat large city would have plenty. but it's not the sort of place where you just stumble on them without knowing where you're going. i think of Dallas the same way (I've spent a lot of time there). Dallas has great food, but you have to know where it is. driving down the highway, though, it's just chains everywhere.

Just the post I expected from willy, well done.
Spicy 5-piece with fries and a side of mashed potatoes for that willy patented biscuit sandwich; always.
    Genius.

Columbus, OH is the same way. You drive by the city and you'll see nothing but signs for the usual midwest/nationwide chains. You take a couple minutes and ask the (right) locals for where to eat and you may be pleasantly surprised. I've had some unbelievable pho here, and some of the best Thai food I've ever eaten. Never would expect that from the capital of Ohio.

Dude, if you leave that place w/o red beans & rice, you're doing it wrong.
