1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I always have a rotating Fav 5 runway shows.

    Currently (in chronological order):

    Dior Homme SS05
    Christian Dior Haute Couture SS07
    John Galliano (mens) FW07
    Yohji Yamamoto (womens RTW) FW14
    Thom Browne (mens) FW14

Like I said, these are always changing and the two 2014 collections on the list bumped out some that are a bit older. I enjoy the theatrics of runway as I'm sure you can tell from the list.

I remember a couple of years ago maybe discussion on SF of a brand doing items (shirts, jackets) in a heavyweight jersey (maybe KKA? WJK?). Anyone else remember this? Google is not helping. Looking for MOAR HEAVYWEIGHT JERSEY

"Cut, proportion, fabric, and, not least important, the refusal to embellish beyond what is necessary—Slimane nails these elements in almost every garment."

    LOL

Cathy Horyn also praised Slimane for reintroducing simple, wearable clothes, which I thought was half true. She was more talking about the women's collections, but if you look at men's -- half of it is ridiculously studded double riders and overly ripped jeans, while the other half consists of simple trucker jackets, graphic tees, and plaid shirts. That is, the kind of stuff you'd expect to find at any high street store.

Isn't that the usual criticism (among many) of Slimane's new SLP line? That it's what you'd expect to find at Hot Topic and H&M, but for 1000x the price?

listen, studs are a necessary embellishment. like it or not though, it seems slp is selling and it undoubtedly has influence in the fashion industry. on a related note, kinda surprised virgil abloh / kanye weren't in there.

can't really decide what my favorite runway shows of all time are. some notable ones that come to mind are yyph ss12, raf summa cum laude, helmut lang ss03, dvn ss10 maybe. there a bunch of others that I definitely like from yohji (ss04, aw11, fw08), dries (crazy fw14 actually!), helmut, a couple more from raf, even a rick show or two (aw07 i think). finding it really hard to pick favorites though. edit: also some more recent lanvin shows I really like

Isn't Christmas through the first week of January a holiday in Japan?

A lot of stuff was shut down over the holidays indeed, so I'd wait a little longer. FJ was closed for a while and I think they are backlogged.

When do you need this by? I think if you're patient, you can do pretty well. I have a Dries suit that was $400 and a Jil suit I got from a seller here for like $70 (the Dries suit is perfect, the Jil suit I still need to have tailored). Of course, I've never had a need to wear either, but I'll assume I'll be glad I own them at some point?

Yoox and ebay are both great for this, although ebay requires you to be willing to re-sell a bunch of stuff that doesn't end up fitting.

Not until March 14th, which is when the wedding is. Tailoring is not an issue since I know a skilled tailor (hi mom), so I'm pretty flexible.

Love when people send me offers, I accept, and then they don't pay
