1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

To be clear, my comment wasn't motivated by xenophobia. I'm talking about relative cost. I'm not going to complain about Uniqlo - they make it cheap and sell it cheap. But making it cheap and selling it at that price? That's taking the piss. I'd like to know how well that item sells. @gdl203 What you say about Merz B. illustrates my point perfectly. You'd have to be a mug to buy that Snyder sweatshirt when you can buy something of the same or better quality for less than half the price.

Yeah, that wouldn't make sense. But the whole "if it's made in a low cost country by exploited workers with no human rights and then massively marked up, I ain't buying it" mentality makes much more sense.

    Yes, it does.
Like I said, my bad for jumping to conclusions.
lets all agree that's a boring and overpriced sweatshirt by all measures.

Yeah I meant the auto-increment. Do folks have some specific thoughts on that experience? I mean it definitely seems mostly beneficial to the seller, but does it play out that way? Does it make a noticeable difference in how bids escalate and flow?

I don't think the US is a high-cost manufacturing country, tbh. Your guy's minimum wage is ridiculously low and the cost of land is relatively cheap.

Agreed. Or we could make some placards and meet outside the nearest branch of Todd Snyder? ;-)

Funny thing is I like a lot of his outerwear. And they ALWAYS end up at 70% off with a lot of sizes left. But every season the price goes up.

Well, I have found a new piece of knitwear over which I will obsess, and it goes for a grand. This might not end well.

Nope. Pure cashmere seems just too 'delicate' to me. I'm actually not sure the type of wool. Perhaps merino.

Thing is, if you're buying on YJ from abroad via a proxy you don't have to interact with the seller or deal with the crappy interface, you're just dealing with the proxy service. Its probably easier. There's also just such a vast availability of dope shit on there, at least as far as the designers I'm into. I dislike ebay.
