1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I understand people waiting for hours for a console launch, to be able to play new games and have a more powerful one, like going from ps3 to ps4, but doing that for a phone that probably has some minor tweaks here and there. Not worth it in my opinion.

Certainly true but it seems even if your wardrobe is mostly Japanese/American heritage, you'll still need at the very least 4-5 different pairs of different shades and fits of denim to go with everything. I guess they don't have to be raw but no one has time to break in that many pairs.

I recently had what I assume to be the standard one year poster crisis and realized that none of my clothes go together. My one pair of low-rise, slim-fitting indigo raws look weird and funny when worn with wide hemmed EG tops. So I basically bought a bunch of tops that look cool in pictures but can only go with my two pairs of EG fatigue/usn pants. One of those pairs has a slightly lighter shade of navy that looks stupid with darker navy tops. My one pair of black raws are more charcoal then black, and although the texture and color go fine with schneider knits, the cut doesn't at all and I have no loose drapey trousers. I tried to dress away from the trendy Eurpopean, graphicnovelty's "modernist streetwear" style (modernist not the right word btw), but not having a color palette or having to worry about solving difficult problem sets involving texture and silhouette that professor schneider poses can save a lot of time and money. And in that case, a pair of plain black jeans is usually the safest and most versatile option unless one is dead set on going full heritage. But general advice still seems to be that everyone should start with a pair of raws and go from there, and sometimes that can be costly advice in the long run.

So, you are finding that you need lots of clothes? Not that big of a surprise seeing that you are on Styleforum. That said, I am not "full heritage" in any sense of the word, and I find that a few pairs work fine for me. A slim pair of indigo jeans with dark low tones, a slim/regular with a regular rise pair that is "black/blue", which I find much more useful than black, and a pair of medium rise, medium to slim. fit, pair, with fewer dark low tones that wears out a more standard white/indigo, and that pretty much covers everything. I did just get a pair of "rare" Big Johns from Blue Owl, in the slim tapered cut, but sized up, so that I get that loose top block with a tapered leg that I find works with most of my clothes.

I don't know how you have such a hard time with textures. The guideline is pretty simple. Rougher textures generally go with other pieces that are rougher or heavier.

There are definitely things that don't go easily with your typical jean - things that are tailored and smoother with smoother textures and extremely clean lines are the obvious example, but even then, I could style an intermediate layer between them (say, a really long knit), and pair with say, some Ann Demeulemeester top tops, and make the whole thing work. It's all just getting the proportions, silhouette, and texture, down.

Maybe it's just me, but I never wait in line for anything. Maybe dinner, once in a while, but even then, I don't find it worth it. Maybe I am just impatient, or just don't care enough about anything.

I've heard that Chinese people were flying to Australia just to buy iPhones.

Brazil is much like Russia and with the cost airfares the trip is very quickly paid for.

People in San Francisco won't buy anything unless you make them wait in line first.

    "Is there a line?"
    "No."
"Oh, fuck that. I'm not buying that shit."

My favourite all time pair of jeans are the Triple Works x Blue Owl tapered fit. Was cleaning out the closet today and found them. Sadly I've outgrown for them now. For anyone here with a 33 waist, these things are insane..

Same for dinner. At a "hot" place, the likelihood of your reservation being within 30 minutes of being one time is 0.001%. I blame it on everyone being a food blogger.

The main difference is you have to wait in line for kicks, if you REALLY want them, as there more often than not 8 pairs total (I'm looking a you Ronnie Fieg) and if they get released online some nerdy db will make a bot and buy them all just to resell on ebay.

The sitting in line for a phone, is a bit like sitting in line to be the first to watch a movie.

The line outside the boston store for the new iphone was long as heck. I was out for drinks friday night and saw a whole host of people. And yeah, they were all asian. I was wondering if they were buying for themselves or to sell back in china. I bet they'd make a crap ton of money reselling it to people there.

This is exactly what happened for the last iPhone release so I'm guessing it is the same now. Even in western Europe iphones are basically the amount but replace the $ by euros so much more expensive.

We are not forced into a 2 year deal (6 months max, thanks EU), so I think it evens out in the end.

Monthly fees are on average much lower but the price price of electronics is higher across the board. Dealing with Orange is pretty much the equivalent of having your nails pulled out but then they have AT&T.
