There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

FWIW, that's often a good thing with Panama hats. Don't know where Borsos are exactly made, but the best Panamas come from Ecuador. Cheap ones are from China.

I'm almost positive FJ Western does, as @eckblk apparently does so, but he's a longstanding customer so it may be an exception.

Should hold on shipping anything to them. They haven't picked up the phone the last two days despite generally being open on those days. Might be on vacation. eckblk is investigating :) and im periodically calling them still.

Yeah I was going to call them before I shipped anything off. I just dropped off my Daytons at bennies for a full resole so we will see how it goes. I care more about my visvims more than those so I may end up shipping those off in the next year once the soles have worn more. Just hard to get the vis silhouette right cuz the soles visvim uses aren't available and the alternatives are slightly off.

Thanks for the help y'all. It makes me wonder how anyone can be interested in nice shoes/clothing outside of Cali and NY if Atlanta sucks at this shit.

There's a panama hat store on ebay selling hats direct from ecuador at affordable prices. I haven't ordered from them but I've considered it. http://www.ebay.com/usr/panamahatshop?_trksid=p2053788.m1543.l2754

It helps if your town used to have a suit factory and now there's a dozen former suitmakers scattered throughout the area with their own tailoring shops.

    What is Basco?
I see it around but know nothing of it, for some reason I always thought it was some kind of in-house Barney's line. This seems pretty much perfect but have no clue on fit/quality etc.

EDIT: Wrong thread, and yeah, Barney's in house label.

There are several decent Panama sellers. I believe Borsalino use Tesi to block their Panama's - RMR in Italy sells Tesi : http://www.rmr-hats.com/Shop-Summer-hats-3-0.html

Yes if they're not made in Ecuador they're not really true Panama. The best are generally made in Montecristo with cheaper hats made in the Cuenca area.

Optimo in Chicago sell high quality Montecristo made Panama's, but you're talking $500 for a cheap one up to thousands of dollars for the finest weaves.

Personally I'm happy with cheap Cuencas. Some shops grade their hats by the weave count, but no two shops use the same grading system...

Am I philistine for thinking that non-cream straw hats in rougher weaves are often more wearable? I have a traditional Panama. It's not a Monticristi, but it's not bad. Still, I've been finding this brown sisal hat from Lock & Co. to be much more wearable these days.

^ looks good. I've got a few Panama's but they're not my favourite straws. I'd love a decent 1950's Milan straw (most of the current 'Milan's are plastic - practical but not that nice). Sisal/Hemp can make really nice hats.
