1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

You may know this but the original video was produced & directed by a long-standing and active SFer. I won't out him but he's a good dude.

You shouldn't feel bad. He's the one who sent me the link to the spoof in the first place and found it very funny.
Nope. But Elliot produced all of our videos

You'll definitely recognise steampunk when you see it ;), very outgoing. Don't really see it as a style but more as a subculture look goth or punk. In my opinion not something to wear for casual days. Belongs in convention halls and certain events.

There have been a number of those found. One is a 13th century French Bible, which I always thought was cool. Another is a medieval law book, which was a favorite possession of a prisoner who was flayed alive. He asked that his skin and the book be given to a friend of his, after he died, and that his skin be tanned and used to bind his book.

Stuff like Veilance and Acronym - well-designed clothes of the future or stupid? Is this stuff better than going to a sporting goods store?

When I was all "Made in China is inferior" (it was a phase mom!) I got a Veilance jacket, and I feel like I could've gotten a mainline Arcteryx and spend $200 on other things or save up. It is okay designed with no logo, but nothing it has is "of the future" - the nylon/ gore fabric, hardware, taping everything has been here for years if not decades.

when I was living in canada I tried veilance, acronym & sisp
I liked sisp the best but thought none was worth retail
sisp & veilance were easily found discounted, acronym not so much

I think with veilance it's more fashiony; the patterns are weird and construction is super minimal and impressive. it feels futuristic aesthetically speaking.

I picked up a couple Marweather caps from Context when they were clearing them out at 60% off, and have since realized that they are the best caps I've worn. I wish I could find them for a reasonable price somewhere...

I saw caseyfud at a museum in Tulsa last night. I legit didn't believe my eyes that I would run into one of the handful of SF members who I could recognize in my own city. Small world mang. He and his girl are very nice.
