1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I thought one of the big points of the new software was to drive more traffic to the site, that plus the reviews on items, new listing tools, signatures with listings, sellers paying to feature their items, etc was that all of it would come together to increase the B&S movement, and yet it seems to have completely killed the momentum. I see a lot of stuff listed but nothing moves and everyone seems frustrated by it. Anyone know what's going on, like really?

Is there just too much stuff being sold or some of it's junk?
Are there new people but they're all lurkers or cheapos who don't want baller stuff?
Are there more online stores and discounts so people are buying but it's going there instead?
Is everyone broke and they're also used to screaming good deals online so they're just waiting for price drops?
    etc

my little theory is the people who browse the swd classifieds, like so many internet menswear nerds, are broke dudes in their twenties who face loads of opportunity costs with every purchase they make, so even before buying a cheapo shirt they're doing copious research and thinking and searching. Add to this the crazy amount of cheap clothing options strewn throughout the web, not to mention the risk involved with non-returnable items, and you're left with a slim chance that what they end up buying is one of your listings. I'm sure some buyers with a more forgiving income also search the classifieds, but my sense is their standards are quite a bit higher, making them more likely to buy a rare-ish Schneider piece than a Uniqlo flannel.

I see Zara and Aldo stuff for sale.... who buys that from here?

Also, it's about the time where low post people and new sign-ups start flooding the forum. I hope you're all ready.

Holy shit black/royals going for a lot of money - was thinking of getting them as beaters. Might as well just spend a bit more and get some baller sneaks.

I've never bought anything from Aldo but I still have a knit duffle jacket from Zara I still wear, I think it was like $90 and honestly probably best quality thing I've felt from that brand. And also have this thick padded nylon moto style jacket that is my go to jacket when I'm going out and gonna get shitfaced. Luckily its only been needed to be stitched up once. My one and only peacoat is from H&M which I've had for like 7 years has had shit load of wear I think it's a 90/5nylon/5poly blend or some crap and still one of the things I reach for first in my closet.

I think those brands do sometimes put out good shit but you really have to feel the fabric and think about how it'll hold up.

Estimated, some of the people on Forbes list, have said that, they are WAAAAAY of.

I saw a program, where a guy from HK said, that they were about 50% of valuing most of the people in HK.

Look, what I'm about to say doesn't necessarily apply to you. I haven't looked at your listings so I don't know how long they've been up, number of bumps, number of prices cuts, etc. That said, I don't think it's unreasonable to believe that some people have an unreasonable view of what their used clothing is worth. If enough people offer you what you believe to be a "lowball" price, then maybe it's not a lowball price, but actually the market price.

There's a listing that I'm watching right now on another site. It's for a very high end item, and as such the seller has a very high end price on it. I made to him what I believed to be a fair but aggressive price offer. He was very polite, but basically told me to fuck off. Now I don't really have a problem with that, but I just keep watching the listing and each week he knocks $10 off of his asking price. I'm guessing in a couple of months when he starts to hover around my original offer, I'll make it again, only this time it won't seem so lowball.

The moral of the story is if you really want to move something to free up money for something else price it to move and you're probably not going to free up as much money as you thought you were.
