1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

i do think it's interesting that rei, at least according to that statement, doesn't find her main inspiration in movies or art or anything like that. contrast that with raf, who is all about that sort of thing, especially visual art these days (and the interzone!) i liked learning a bit more about her process/approach to designing.

to change the subject, anytime i try on a full length coat i feel like i look about three inches shorter. maybe just in my head

edit: moo, i think you mean gaultier. easy to confuse the two

Ok so it's a "manifesto" that appears in the second issue of System magazine in which, coincidence, Kawakubo is also interviewed by Hans Ulrich Obrist. Chances are that so-called manifesto is just a highlight from said interview. In any case, it isn't something "issued" out of the blue in some self-aggrandizing gesture but something published in a magazine as part of a special feature on the designer. As for the content, it might be naive and subject to exaggeration and artistic license (big deal ) but it's also at least a tiny bit insightful and doesn't warrant this much vitriol.

Good basics. I have down jacket from them. No complaints about quality but I wouldn't but at their retail prices.

From a design / content standpoint, Haven has one of the best webshops that I've seen: documented buys, shop looks with links to each item, good pictures and measurements.

    Silliness:

-- Presenting an old and fairly humdrum technique -- the use of constraints -- as something revolutionary, or worse, particular to her vision

-- Characterizing the clothing of the 1% as something remotely involved with suffering

I don't find it dumb, just overblown and yes, a bit silly.

Good look or no? I think its ok when a jacket is over the scarf, but I don't know about under a shirt like that. Will try it out anyways to see for myself

Looks strange to me. Not sure about a scarf under an open shirt, it seems a little counter intuitive.

I was looking at some tiles on Sunday. One pattern looked really similar to that P Ervell shirt from past season.

black Yohji animal shorts are kinda cool. I know they're supposed to be fur but for some reason they remind me of those old straw rain cape more than anything

You're reading things that aren't there. At no point is it implied that using constraints is something revolutionary or particular to her process. The 1% thing is just silly, please.

For me, the moment you know that you really like clothing, not because you need to get dressed and want to look your best, but just because you like clothes, is the moment you buy something dear for no reason other than that it is really awesome.
