1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Where'd you go/what'd you do? I've been pretty impressed but obv it's not like everybody, just better than most places.

I finally checked out some of the stuff yesterday and felt underwhelmed like most everyone else. That shirt looked pretty good, but felt terrible, and the raw edgings on the shoulders looked closer to mall-level tacky than fashion forward. The color-block tees were OK, though I didn't realize the white portions of them were pique cotton. That color-block sweatshirt that noob posted a little while back felt decent, but I didn't get a chance to try it on.

After all that, I actually wound up leaving with some Mossimo tees and sweatpants for all of my autumn lounging needs. GF wound up grabbing a white Mossimo dinner jacket and black floppy hat, further hardening that sense of jealousy in me that women can find some really nice looking stuff at pretty much any place that sells clothes.

I've seen some stuff on Far Fetch and I think all of their stock is from H. Lorenzo.

That's what had sunk it for me as well, though I think the monochrome button-fronts (the ones with the T-shirt sleeves) fare a little better, as the seams don't leap out at you.

The cardigan looks pretty good worn, though though it smells, mysteriously, of plastic. :puzzled:

re: Lim/Target: it would've been fine if they'd stuck to basics or upped the prices, but instead you get cheap clothes with bad fabrics and poorly-done "premium" details, like this wonky-ass hidden button placket and puckered collar:

And this $300 leather jacket that looks like some mall store PVC monstrosity:

As best as it can be judged from the released photos, the Marant/H&M collection seems to strike a much better balance of design/quality at the expense of significantly higher prices.

To expand on this-- where does Vox live? SF? I want someone to convince vox to star in a stop motion video where he, I dunno, takes a trip to the corner sandwich shop while doing a hovering robo pose. Like seriously, someone get on this.

You say that, but then if you do it properly, you end up with a lot more scenarios like this:

I mean, I noticed that the majority of people looked a lot more "put together" than here, and it was clear that most put thought into what they wore. But I saw very very few actually impressive fits or anything interesting (some guy wearing a Doma/Yohji long shirt and black harem pants??!), and certainly saw some real fails (diaper drop crotch and KVA sneaks on a nerdy skinny-fat white dude). Did see a lot of people I assumed were models though (long legs, very thin, exotic/interesting/beautiful faces), and they looked pretty great even wearing normal clothing

Whenever something I want sells out, this is the guy I picture buying it. Sauntering around NYC with his shameful belly peeking through the jacket I could have made look great. BAH

Amazon is a lot, lot, lot more. It holds over 30% of all internet commerce in the USA. Think about how staggering that is. Amazon's revenues are in excess of $60B/a.

And it is more than just another company "on the cloud". It owns the cloud, to a large degree. Amazon Web Services is huge, and it's just a small portion of their total business. It's reach in the USA is everywhere. It does not have supreme dominance worldwide, but it has the resources

Farfetch is cool. I like it. But it's just one of the rats that have found a niche. High end fashion, especially men's high end fashion, is a nearly negligible industry, as much as I'd like it to be otherwise.

shameful fashion thought: I bought a pair of ridiculously over-distressed jeans with euro styling... and I love them. wearing now.
