1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

There are, but they're not on the same level - that doesn't mean they're not a good product. Look at how SW&D baller boots/leather jackets are priced relative to other decently made options. You can't really compare Alden or Carmina with say St. Crispin.

There is no comparison, but many would (and have) could argue that there is a level of diminishing returns when it comes to shoes above the $600/pair price point. For about $700, there is no reason to look anywhere but Vass (for me, at least).

For most people, there are diminishing returns above $250. You can get a decent pair of Loakes for that, and they'll last you as much as a pair of top shelf Edward Greens or St. Crispins. But there is a real difference, for those who both know and care. Same goes with pretty much anything.

Quick, SW+D bat signal! Can anyone recommend a reasonably-priced hotel with some character in a reasonably fun part of London? I am at an absolute and total loss and can't find the London thread because my ISP has decided to cap my internet.

Poke around in Dalston for something that seems good enough. It will most likely have character and definitely be near somewhere fun. Or are you trying to be even closer to the center of the city?

Thing is, I don't really know. It's a super quick vacation, just on the way to Paris, so I'd rather have easy acces (train or foot) to museums and food and stuff. I've no idea how possible that is. Thanks for the two recs already, though!

Synthese, there's the St Giles hotel on Tottenham Court Road which is a brutalist disaster, British Museum is 5 mins walk away, the bus takes you straight to Kings Cross for the Eurostar and they have a bar that's often open 'till 4am.

Was this meant to be an endorsement? Either way, I am not traveling alone, so "brutalist disaster" may have to be put on the back-burner.

I love fragrances as much as clothing and right now my top 4 are Untitled. Aventus, Virgin Island Water, and TF Italian Cypress

Very interested to try these new replica fragrances coming out in October to add something new

Jazz Club - a masculine fragrance inspired by a jazz club in Brooklyn, with tobacco, leather and rum.

Lazy Sunday Morning - the “smell of crumpled linen sheets and fresh towels in Florence”, with white musk, iris, clean accord, woods, pear and rose.

Promenade in the Gardens - a floral chypre inspired by the smell of a British gardens, with rose, patchouli, sandalwood and vetiver

It is an endorsement, the outside of the building is just a bit interesting. Location wise it can't really be beat.
