1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Almost as long as I can remember, I've collected something. Over the course of my childhood, it was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, wrestling figures, comics, and baseball cards. As an adolescent, it was crappy music. During my first couple "adult" years, it was DVDs. In short, I was always wrist-deep into some hobby and it always involved accumulation. I suppose you could say clothing has been my collecting hobby for several years, yet my closet remains sparse compared to the amount of time and effort I've sunk into the hobby.

I started thinking about this last night as I prepared a couple of items for the B&S forum. Clothing is the first collecting hobby I've had where my "collection" is regularly pared down and "more" doesn't equate to better. I've usually attributed my limited wardrobe to financial restrictions. While more financial freedom would definitely result in an expanded clothes pile, I'm not sure if I would ever stop that editing process that involves casting off things I haven't worn in a long time. Unlike those other collecting hobbies I once immersed myself in, the idea of an enormous wardrobe is both undesirable and a bit overwhelming. Even now, I find it difficult to not sell off stuff that I once really liked if I haven't worn it in a long time.

I guess my point is that for as much as I'm into clothing and a lot of what comes with it, I've got no desire to build anything resembling an archive of cool shit. What I have in my closet is stuff that I actually wear with some regularity. If it's something "basic" like a jacket, and I only end up wearing it once or twice a year, then what do I really want with it? Better to sell it off and maybe use the funds toward something else that I like more and actually end up putting onto my body more than once a season.

Relax. The fit battle is long, and in the end, it's only with yourself.
