I'm Asian on the inside...
I was wearing mine yesterday and some guy asked me "hey what kind of sneakers are those?"
so I told him and he says "uh, how to you spell that" as he's typing into his iPhone...
him: "that's not what you said"
A pair of ladies asked me what kind of boots I was wearing yesterday, and I had kind of a panic attack, mumbled "Maison Martin Margiela" in French while staring at the ground, and then spluttered that they could find "MMM" online if they were interested. I think everyone was a little traumatized.
How do you say "Maison Martin Margiela" in French? Or rather, how do you say it in anything other than French?
That's the thing; I don't know, and they did not understand.
How hard and fast are blazer buttoning rules? This +J jacket has a high button stance for a 2 btn and looks a lot better with both buttons fastened.
i had a similar experience explaining siki im and raf simons. we are acquaintances so i cautioned her that i wont pronounce it with the french accent...she made me do it anyway
do you pronounce margiela like kanye does?
Mei Son Mar Teen Marge Ella
Cmon people its not that hard
IPA transcriptions would be helpful I can still remember a bit of that from university linguistics.
I think it's more maison (like a french house) maize-on mar-tain mar-jayla or jeyla but the j in that is a [ʒ] like the z in azure.
Watch brands are much harder to pronounce then fashion houses imo.
roll-ex or ro-lex?
I always just say margella.
Only philistines and rude people pronounce THE name in full, others just say MMMMMMh.
But if you need to know, it's Mar JEE ella
Separate names with a comma.
