What a load of bullshit. While TOJ fans love the brand enough to be appropriately categorized as fanboys, the context makes things entirely different. People love Porter because their return policies are exploitable and ridiculous compared to most other retailers, and that they are able to get a bunch of shit with expensive names at 80% off. Not to say Porter and its stock have no merits, but it's no coincidence the love began at the same time as the sale.

As for TOJ ... its items are sold at full price, always, and there is no return policy. People love TOJ for delivering solidly constructed, well-designed pieces at fair prices. Drew certainly has a personality that helps to carry the brand on the forum but none of it is ingenuine and he's no marketing genius, he's just a dude who wanted to make clothes and has some cool things to say. While Drew and I certainly aren't BFFs, I know him well enough to consider him a friend at least, and I believe that TOJ's success is sincerely built on honesty and a good product that people love and, consequently, love to talk about. I don't think Drew is attempting to exploit anyone or their affections.

+1. But it's sorta ironic coming from the guy who runs the biggest fan boy club on the forum. There are many similarities between the love for expensive Japanese basics bought through proxy and Mr. Porter love displayed on this forum. Both services are very skilled at building up and then exploiting the love as if their customers had formed some kind of mass consciousness. That most $300 japanese tshirt purchases are a safer buy than some random 80% off Mr. Porter purchase does not change this fact.

What kind of absurdist reality am I living in, when BB1 calls me out for running a fanboy club? Dude, you have a hard-on for like exactly 4 long-irrelevant low to mid-market Men's Non-no tier Japanese brands and constantly push them on the forums as best a single poster can do. You are the very definition of a fanboy.

The TOJ and Mr. Porter comparison is so off-base, U MAD SON

it's a slim heavy knit tshirt from 'breakneck' a cool japanese brand that hideki showed me. they're pretty pricey - they retail for $300 - but really worth it.

the only problem is, they come in 3 packs, like Hanes - except it's $900. Should I buy, Y/N? I probably will cop, I just want to hear your opinions.

Most of us are fanboys of something around here; we have our favorites. It isn't entirely bad.
