You can always get children of unwed mothers (pregnant feral cats the shelters take in, let them have their litter, spay, and release). I had a couple of sisters who were pretty awesome. No one was picking them up at the adoption event because they weren't tiny kitten-sized (we're talking six months or so), but I got the last laugh because they were already spayed and housebroken. :D

Kinda miss those guys. They stayed with my ex when I moved to Philly. Then again, I don't really miss being covered in cat hair and having to be home by 8 or so every night to feed them.
Sounds like a win-win for me. You're all the way dead before they eat you, and you get to provide your beloved pet with one last meal.

dlester: your first mistake was getting a cat

if you're gonna get a dog from a breeder tho, make sure it's a legit operation.

Cats are so great, just got a 2 month old kitten from the shelter, linx point siamese. Full of energy, but significantly les destructive/less work than a puppy.

I like that cats are sort of aloof, I'm not really looking for a constant companion

thats how I feel, dislike how dogs need so much attention. Seem like they require more dedication and are more time consuming. Cats just do their own thing, and they I like how independent they are. Just gotta train them and you're set.

Wait what? Why did you have to be home by 8 to feed them? That's one of the best things about having a cat- you don't have to deal with feeding schedules. Shit, if I'm going out of town for less than a week I just leave my cat an extra bowl or two of food and water and a clean litterbox and he's all good.

edit- I know what you mean about the cat hair, mine sheds an unbelieveable amount of fur... I don't know how he doesn't go bald.

the "Mr Porter awesomeness" thread is about to go south whenever these guys wake up and realize they're buying expensive garbage. It works if you copped the Lobbs on sale and the 40% off designer stuff, but if it sticks around to a 70 or 80% off discount, then something is inherently wrong with it. The aggregated taste of many is enough to warrant a non-cop online. Buying that stuff is like being at a club really drunk after 3 or 4am and grabbing whatever you can and then waking up the next morning to find out it has a penis.
