That might be what KingJulien wasn't aware of. Whereas a lot of designers will find textiles they like and design from there, Schneider generally (always?) begins by designing the textile itself.

I meant in photos taken by most online retailers (i.e. Gravity Pope, Opening Ceremony). The lookbook and site show them well, but for the most part, most of the online pictures I see are in terrible lighting and/or fail to show close ups of the fabrics, which is the SS bread and butter. Southwillard takes SS pictures right.

Does anyone have any experience with Premieta shoes? They look nice from online pics, but anyone handle them in person and have some fit and/or quality advice?

Yeah I can't speak from hands-on experience (yet! plain coat and lana crewneck sweater from AW2011 coming in the mail next week), but for me the appeal of Schneider is the subtle details of material, color and design. Color and design are obviously subjective, but anyone who says the materials aren't amazing is objectively wrong. If you just look at the pictures on retailer websites it doesn't look all that special, but the lookbooks are an entirely different story. I was on the fence on the plain coat I until I saw the lookbook picture. I would've been stupid not to buy it when it dropped to $290 on AmRag.

e: Compare AmRag's photo vs. the lookbook photo:

Wes Anderson has always made children's movies for adults. I mean that in a good way.

    Anybody else seen Melancholia?
I mostly think Lars Von Trier is too far up his own ass, but I enjoy watching his stuff anyway

Von Trier annoys the hell out of me, but I did actually want to see Melancholia. I haven't yet, but I probably will soon. I saw most of his movies up through Dogville, when the self-righteousness just took over. Antichrist seemed to be still in that self-righteous vein, so I skipped it, though one of my friends whose taste I trust liked it.

Edit: fun factoid—he added the "Von" to his name. Also, have you heard the story about him finding out who his father was? Pretty crazy.

It's the prologue to The Darjeeling Limited. It helps set the stage a bit.

For me, it's more about the comedic absurdity of life. The films are a nice balance to all of the seriousness in one's personal world.

Eh, I wouldn't go so far as to say that about LvT.

He took four years to rewrite Antichrist because the executive producer told somebody what it was about. That's pretty much the definition in my book, and it's a small part of his ridiculous escapades, including claiming to be a Nazi and then saying they didn't get his humor when they kicked him out of Cannes
