That's why I never understood the criticisms of writers like Hemingway and McCarthy for being sexist. Excluding a viewpoint you don't understand from your writing isn't discriminatory.

The guy who proclaimed "Where the Wild Things Are," "Hurt Locker," and "Up in the Air" the best movies of 2009? All three don't even add up to 10 out of 10.

But ^the idea there's a Female Viewpoint is also just, you know, Ew.

Still and all, the -isms are bad, but trying to remove them from art is the work of the philistine.

I liked when the monster ate the boy. go hard. but really I enjoyed the movie even if it overstayed its welcome. You guys making Dragon Tattoo sound like Twilight written by a male. Thank goodness I only read Lolita.

Then you're missing out on Kubrick, James Mason, and Peter Sellars.

The only thing I ever read is Benjy's section from The Sound and the Fury and I think that's reflected in my posting and style

I liked Moon. I thought it was funny that he made a movie about the moon considering his dad got famous for writing Space Oddity

I enjoyed the 70's Wicker Man, I refuse to watch the remake other than the previously mentioned 10 minute montage on youtube.

Sounds like I need to watch the right version of Blade Runner, I wasn't so impressed by the narrated one.

If this was to what I said, I mean the whole trilogy. Every chick just kinda throws themselves at the dude for no reason and it just seemed to look down on women in general. I'm not even normally the type to point this sort of thing out. It was almost to the point of being humorous cause the dude is not even close to attractive and he's kind of a dick.
I guess I'm just used to the American pretty boy protagonist haha.

Its been a while since I've seen them too

I need to get my hands on the final or director's cut. Netflix is only streaming the theatrical release.

I have the final cut on bluray, just might watch that tonight. I really hope they don't do a remake though, it's perfect as is.

I picked up A Prophet (as mentioned in the stylish film thread) last week and thoroughly enjoyed the film.

Has anyone watched Beginners? Got it for Christmas but haven't got around to it yet.
