I wish there could be a middle ground between pure consumption and iron fisted intellectual masturbation ( ! ), in the meantime I'll keep on making vaguely relevant contributions.

I think it's hilarious when Tween's troll posts are taken seriously. They walk that fine line of being totally enjoyable despite the fact that they entirely confuse and derail a thread convo

^ Your doppleganger Shah seems to have a handle on it. He can converse intelligently on the subject but is cheeky and has a bit of fun with it, as it should be.

Hey Sipang, I mentioned to you in a PM before that i'm just sort of tired of the whole fashion thing. I can echo that every thread has basically turned into a 'what size would I be if'. A lot of designers are putting out boring stuff, prices are skyrocketing... being original is so difficult to the point where you always have to dress like a clown to stand out.

Also the quality/design of mall brands have come a long way lately. Sort of grinds my gears that someone can go to the gap and look pretty similar to how I dress for a fraction of the price.

I'd be really surprised if there aren't many people just as nerdy about present-day jil or lanvin or balenciaga or givenchy or prorsum as there are about historical raf or current schneider, simply because they're a lot better known...

Also, just to clarify: when I said the Schneider thread has been hugely successful I obviously didn't 't mean it in the sense of containing lots of serious/pure discussion about the designer. It's basically a shopping thread, and I didn't mean to say there's anything very wrong with that (or that it'd be awesome (!) to have a non-commercial thread about Givenchy) .

Incidentally: anyone know if branquinho is still at Delvaux? Google has yielded zero info for me.

+1,000 I'd agree there is a serious lack of knowledge concerning the history, evolution, and relationship of clothing, design and fashion to today's marketplace and current styles. I'm by no means an expert but would welcome such threads as well.
