"This oral history reminds me of the time I started my Xanga. I think I started it on September 26, 2005. I didn’t really know what I was doing, to be honest. I was in California at my parents’ house for the holidays, bored. It was drizzling like crazy. Anyway, I don’t know if there was ever a source to look at such a wide variety of cute kitten pictures or read emo rants on the Internet before then. There were niche Web sites, but nothing next to the mainstream crowd-sourcing we’re seeing these days. 2005, man, that was a revolutionary time."

    Stupendous.

Funny how it was this parody that got me to finally finish the GQ piece. Is the ACL dude this vulgar in person? I swear a lot, but the profanities from him seem out of place in something so ridiculous as The Oral History of Menswear Blogging.

he doesn't even say anything vomit inducing like most of the SZish stuff people knock here. Every designer out there if they are of legitimate worth are going to have some sort of artsy-speak in their vocabulary but hes pretty down to earth for the most part.

if you read older interviews there's more about his past/philosophy and you can get a good idea about his purpose, at least then.

Also, I think I want a red leather :nodding:

"Bruce Handy, Vanity Fair writer/editor: It’s funny, because when Juli first wrote me to tell me about this amazing GQ.com oral history of menswear blogging, I was listening to a Paul Westerberg solo album on Spotify. Spotify is an online music service. Paul Westerberg used to be the front man of the Replacements and is occasionally referenced on Pitchfork. Pitchfork is a Web site. I mention all that, because when I read the GQ.com oral history, I’d never heard of any of the bloggers, but I don’t want people reading this to think I’m uncool."

    lulz.

What i don't get is why it's called an "Oral History". I'm reading it, not listening to it.
