    I once got this on the subway from a family of black people. They started shouting at me across the car, calling me Edward. They were actually very nice, but it was embarrassing as hell.

    In the book store today, ran into a dude rocking these magnificent, snowman-esque pants -- tech, shiny, midnight black, severely tapered, and festooned with these large pockets sure to make your jaws drop. Thought I'd finally have an opportunity to showcase my fashun prowess. Then I commented on them, and he was all like, Thanks, I just got off duty...from the police force.

    If you're on SF you're superawkward IRL, don't fool yourself.

    :laugh: Mikey, you seem to be hung up on awkwardness. We should hang out sometime...

    No, I just thought it was funny. In my defense, they were rather cool-looking pants, just probably more utilitarian and less top quality than what snowman rocks with teh passion.

    No shit... I couldn't do that though- the next size up was already sold out and for the other two items I bought (SNS sweater + CPs, both worked out) I knew my size and so there was no need to bother ordering an extra size.

    So you're really only talking about the Heritage/workwear side of Americana, right ?

    "Americana", at least IMO, is more of a broad ranging classification of which the Redwings/flannel/TheHillside aesthetic is a sub-cateogory... There's a bunch of stuff that falls under "americana" - Brooks Bros, TB, BoO, mcnairy, geller, ervell, gant, etc

    not gonna argue too much cause its late but i don't really believe any of the brands you listed are americana
    bb/boo/ervell = preppy
    tb = "updated" business apparel
    geller ........
    maybe mcnairy and gant
    if you were looking for an example i would use visvim
