I wish I wasn't so damn cold all the time. All I want to buy are thick wool sweaters in neutral colors. Boring. If I lived in NY, I'd go crazy with +J which would leave me with another cash to actually cop cool items. Alas...

trying to be stylish when weather + climate control is that extreme is hard, but basically, you can:

-half tights (bike shorts) or full tights + full long john heat techs (two layers) under trousers
-one or two longsleeve heat techs (neutral colors) under a longsleeve buttonup shirt, tie if you dont want to show the top of your undershirt, knit over that if you want. Go into bathroom and remove any unneeded layers at office if need be. Inconvenient but most protective.
- beanie is key, wool socks, about all you can do.

Maybe he prefers English tailoring? (See scene where Daisy cries over Gatsby's shirts.)

Ha! Been trying to figure out your user name for days, it sounds so familiar...

It's from Portrait of the Artist..., right? The end of the first section, right when the book stops to suck and turns really good...?

Don't know if it's still the case but you could get heat tech long sleeves in V neck last yr. Still have big supply and only grabbed camo long johns this winter

i dont wear V necks under buttonups because Uniqlo V necks are pretty deep, you can see a pretty big outline. Only ever wear crewnecks under a buttonup, and wear a tie. I wear V necks by themselves, including heat tech in winter, though.

Ding ding ding! That's my favorite book, and that sentence is one of my favorite sentences.

What happened to your old avatar with Jean Pierre Leaud? I always liked it. He's one of my favorite actors.

Need to cop some heat tech things it looks like. I could also do the American thing and gain 10 pounds of solid fat to provide some insulation, but I think I'd hate myself too much for that. Hah.

Haha, nice...if you're the kind to have favorite sentences, we'll get along well. :fistbump:

I had to put my old avatar on hiatus; couldn't stand the way the site was stretching out Claude Jade like that. O_O

Kinda surprised that all these Mr. Porter orders are taking so long. I ordered from Net-a-porter on Monday and my package arrived yesterday.

Same here. I already got my Mr. Porter package yesterday.... unfortunately the a.p.c. boots I ordered were too small :fu:

edit- just got my order from the corner and as someone else said box is enormous, I mean they could've used a box 1/3 the size and it still would've been more than big enough

I guess its the lifestyle+clothing style matching that matters the most.
This guy I know has been wearing Flannel + Jeans + Dayton since he was a college student and now he is a college professor. Still wears the same and looks comfortable.
On the other hand, some kids who have never touched mud in their life before would buy Red Wing or whatnot workboots and throw them out in a month because they felt uncomfortable and clunky.

The big thing about Americana is that it was easy and it fit a wide variety of body types. There'll be a lot of stuff that's randomly embraced but none of it is going to crystallize nearly as intensely. You'll probably see random dudes walking around with flannel/denim/boots for a while.

Fashion Kids will follow whatever gothninja/opening ceremony/sprez/"designer" look that's hyped up on tumblr but "simple, well fitting basics" won't become passe because it's so stylistically neutral.

Also, for the people who don't really "care" that **** moves ******* slow--you can still dress like a Hedi Slimane skinny rockstar and look quote-unquote "fashionable" to your random person even though that ****'s like, 5-8 years old.

At least, IMO.

+1. Would rather take a hit on return shipping than miss out!

And does anyone know what shipping service ln-cc uses for the US? Haven't ordered from them in forever. Not sure where to plug in that tracking #
