One of the hardest things to discuss on the internet.
One can understand trusting someone's opinion when you have pictures of a jacket. Pretty tough with scent, although it's not that expensive. You know you're internet hype when you have double monks, knit ties, common projects, a TOJ, and wear Creed Irish tweed or whatever it is (no hate on any of them, just saying).

People buy me stuff as gifts that is usually to my tastes. I tried that CdG, didn't really like it IIRC.

Well, 7" is pretty damn slim! My advice would be to find another tailor. But, if you do go back to him, tell him you had to buy another pair of pants because he messed them up, and if he's nice, he won't charge. There's a chance he could be grumpy and cut them wrong again, though. Maybe insist he pins them and you try them on? That's always the safest bet.

Besides, how could he get the length right if you didn't try them on?

A Greek cookbook? Coffee from Latin America? Clothes you would wear? This guy sounds like the easiest person to shop for.

I guess it depends how you dress, I'm a fan of visual/olfactory synergy.

That said, I feel that the banal monotony of the mid-west is captured well by scents like CdG Odeur 53 and Odeur 71. Of the two I prefer 71. CdG Standard is also an interesting choice. No fragrance recommendation post is complete without mentioned Creed. Green Irish Tweed is cool if you want to feel like a gentleman. When I wear a fragrance it's CdG White. Some reviewers tend to think it's a more feminine scent, but IMO florals, gourmands, etc. can be nice on a guy. If I were you I would probably just post on Basenotes asking for a rec, it's a really friendly forum.

J Crew and MR PORTER each shipped a package to me on 11/29. J Crew's will be here tomorrow, while MR PORTER's will take at least three more business days to get here.

Wait just so I understood this correctly you guys would rather miss out on buying something you want than get it full pop and have it sell for cheap later? Sounds like you're buying bc you're addicted to shopping not because you like an piece.

No, not at all. Just that it kind of stings to know that you could've saved a few hundred dollars and gotten the same thing in the end.

Lately I'm paying retail on most things. But the clothes I'm interested in rarely make it to sale ...
