Tale from the comics industry (possibly the shadiest of all industries)
When i worked at the (now defunct) Wizard magazine, the editorial team learned about the death of captain america that was being kept a secret. However, somehow, Wizardworld, the terribly designed, super overpriced online store that was also run by Wizard, knew to pre-order the **** out of the issue + its variant covers, and got a ton of them pre-CGC'd (a comic grading service that increases the collector price of the comic), making bank off of the now-hot commodity that was Captain America #25.
They did the same thing in the New Avengers issue where Elektra was revealed to be a skrull (shapeshifting alien). However, because most people didn't gitve a **** about secret invasion (the storyline that this tied into), that was less of a big deal.

Yeah, things like banking pale in comparison

Bought two SS mohair scarves from SW during the summer. Now that it's cold enough to wear them, I just realized that I have no idea how to rock them. The problem I'm finding is that they're really thick and not too long. A basic Parisian knot definitely doesn't work. Any ideas?

Huh! I guess I never went so far as to consider blogs as journalism. Rather, I see them simply as entertainment, especially related to men's fashion. I like to think I'm smart enough to decide whether or not I like a product (it is, after all, just a product) regardless of whether the blogger paid for it or not. I suppose we could care about the kids who live and die by hype, but when has that been a concern of ours?

You can't knot a Schneider scarf ! Where I live, it's against the law.

I think I'm done with buying knits for the foreseeable future. I've got about 20 that are all pretty damn nice and now I'm at a loss of what to spend my money on. Halp.
