1. I'd like to announce that animated avatars are now available again. You'll have to reload, but they are once more possible.

We've been doing a ton of work behind the scenes. The site load speed was already under 1/2 of what Huddler's was, on average, and we installed cloudflare, which means that the site should be even faster. A ton more will go on in the weeks and months to come, and some things will be more visibile, and some less.

    Cheers,

    Fok.

It seems like American Express is bringing over a European flash sale website that's supposed to be huge.

Probably the French Vente-privee.com, which is where the Gilt founders (no hate, they made a go of it) got the idea in the first place.

If you're slim and just want something basic and cheap for the office, you might just grab a few from American Apparel. I'm sure being a mall brand (?) and not $300, they're probably not SF-approved, but they're really slim, have high arm holes, and are made in LA, apparently.

Hey guys, I'm back with some suiting questions.

I've decided on going with J. Crew for my first suit. They have a 25% sale going on right now, and I figure that there fit would be decent. J. Crew fit isn't bad on me, as I'm not a super skinny guy, and the wider cut is actually not as bad as SF makes it out to be.
Some of you might remember my predicament: my University doesn't have any good shopping areas to speak of. I'm going to have to order online. I know J. Crew fit will probably work for me.

Honestly, I don't know too much about suiting fabrics. I'm looking for a suit appropriate to be worn all around, from interviews to case competitions.

    Navy or gray?

If gray, light gray or dark gray?

    Worsted wool or wool flannel?

Here is a list of the suits that J. Crew offers

I'd like to keep costs down, but I'll definitely pay an extra $50 - $100 if the suit will work out better for me and be more appropriate as a first / all-around suit that I can wear to recruiting events for the next three years.

@jslade Definitely go with worsted wool. Flannel is nice, but it's more of a fall/winter fabric and won't do you much good come spring time. If you go with gray, go with charcoal (dark) gray.

I've never tried on Uniqlo clothes before, and don't know how it would fit me. I need it as soon as possible, so I don't want to mess with exchanges in case I get the sizing wrong. Plus, I figure that the quality of a J. Crew suit is going to be a little better than that of a Uniqlo suit.

Worsted wool it is -- thanks, guys! Now I just can't decide between navy and gray.

Hmm! I'll have to make a point of dropping in for this.

On another note, someone needs to take away my wallet so I am not so tempted to buy so many wonderful Irish/Scottish knits.

We should do a concurrent nyc meetup because I'd rather have IRL friends that I drink with than internet friends that exist only on the other side of the screen.

Or even just a regular NYC meetup.

I promise not to fuck up the date this time.

Anybody handled the Veilance insulated shell in person? I'm looking for some winter wear for my first winter out on the east coast having lived on the west coast for 20 years, would like something warmer without having to buy into CG
