Just can't wear them to work, and I never really make it home until night so it's not like I'm changing into work into something with sneakers.

Fell for this shit when I first started reading SF and sufu. I bought clarks, red wings, samurai jeans, and even a fucking train conductor cap. On a totally unrelated note, what happened to xenox?

Just a slave to social norms! I mean I still dress like a jackass most of the time but I leave the sneakers at home.

    LOL at train conductor cap.

For reals, though, I love my Samura 710s.

Guess I'm kind of a late bloomer. :embar:

Also, IDK why people keep ripping on Urban. A bunch of their stuff sucks/is overdesigned/is entirely disposable, but they also sell decent brands (e.g., Gant Rugger, Filson, Alt A) and have some ok cheap basics (the BDG tri-blend tanks, underwear). I feel like they're like any other massive fast-fashion retailer: there's a bunch of junk and a few gems. I'd definitely say the gem-to-junk ratio is higher there than at H&M (although it's admittedly bolstered by some of the outside brands).

Braun design (the older stuff) is pretty well regarded.

Also, I have some BDG tees (Urban house brand) that have held up for 2+ years. Seems okay to me.

im not robert because i recognize that 99% of brands are better than j crew -- but j crew has its place too. and that place is in mikey's closet.

Where does one find decent newsboy/ivy caps, preferrably low profile ones (as opposed to a big fuckoff pancake on your head)? Wool and/or cotton preferred. I picked up a cheap wool blend one from UO that I like, I can't seem to find any other ones that fit like that one does.

Stay away from UO headwear. If you want a more modern looking Newsboy, go with BKC because theirs is much smaller/slimmer than a typical Newsboy. For Ivys, most brands are pretty much the same size. The standard Ivy is way more wearable than a standard Newsboy though. For Ivys you can check J.Press, BB, RL, Rugby, etc.

I bought my brother a BKC newsboy cap for Christmas last year. Very nice materials, but the interior lining ripped within a few weeks of sparse wear.

I try to avoid UO brand stuff, but I must have gotten one made by a slightly more attentive sweatshop worker since it's held up quite well and looks good (better then their current offerings, mine is like a year and a bit old now).

Thanks for the ideas. I didn't think to check Rugby. Whats BKC?
