Got my Balenciaga coat today. It really is a coat. The shoulders fit dead on, and he arms are actually fitted, but there is a lot of room in the body. Surprisingly, it doesn't look boxy, but drapes well. I really like the hood construction, snap buttons and the lack of a back vent. The last really makes it true to duffle coat form (I've seen a bunch of duffles with back vents, which to me is very because duffle coats and stadium coats traditionally do not have vents. It's like a lighter weight, pared down version of the traditional gloverall duffle for fashion guys. I have more muscles than the typical fashion dude, but it's not like I have a huge upper body, by any stretch of the imagination. There is the signature Balenciaga material blocking, with wool twill lining the hood and blocking out the forearms and the inside arm panel. The fabrics and construction seem to be uniformly terrific. For $396 shipped, you could not ask for a better deal. Will probably wear to Pitti Uomo. Speaking of which, if we go to cover it in January, are there any European correspondents who know their shit, are responsible, and can write/take pictures?
