I've had some success selling old clothing items. But I'm beginning to wonder if the more decent thing is just to give them away, considering all the need, all the poverty, out there. I'm wondering if it's better karma just to give it all away to Goodwill or the Salvation Army? What the **** big difference does it make if I make a few bucks or not?

I'm definitely guilty of the same thing, but I'm trying to change it.

I always follow through.

I could see why someone recently out of high school would view varsity jackets in that way. You no longer want to be associated with that scene and want to move on. I was a starter on my high school football team also but passed on the varsity back then for two reasons: I didn't want to be associated with football players due to my dislike for the vast majority of them and they were ugly as **** in its cut and color. But as I just entered my late 20's, no one will be confusing me for a high school student and the new styles of varsities are cut slimmer and look a hell of a lot better than those back then.

As for the eventual UO adoption of the varsity, couldn't that be said for any new trend?

Regarding outdated fashion clothes, I used to try to sell them on e-bay and recoup some of the frivolous expense made on impulse, then I went thru' a period of donatiing them to Salvation Army. Then I realised that Salvation Army customers don't care about high fashion. Now I just destroy them and then throw them out. And for some reason it feels just right.

Seriously!?

What about giving them away to someone you know would appreciate them?

Am thinking of buying some "new Gap denim" just so I can participate in the "new Gap denim" thread and know what I'm talking about. Good idea or bad?

Go for it. There are so many sales and the old denim (which I think is better) is marked down a whole lot now. I like them.

Truth. Truth also that if you don't look back 5 years and say "WTF" about a great number of things (not just fashion related) that you probably should regret being a boring person. Note that "WTF?" is not the same as regret. I still love my collection of kicks, though there are plenty of pairs probably never wear again.

I think people are going to be stuck with a lot of the preppy / trad streetwear that they are accruing from the past few months on. This trend has saturated New York City in every borough, every neighborhood, and many different types of men. I think once it fades, we're going to see a return to the Hedi Slimane look that preceeded it. The preppy / trad execution still pulls a lot from the slim-fit that was introduced in the early Aughts.

Yup. I archive the good, bad, ugly, and just plain wrong. I figure that if you bat .5, you are a legend. If you bat 0.3, you are still pretty good. If you bat anything over 0.6, you are probably the boring guy in the accounting department.
