Yes indeed, it's fantastic how they present their shoes on little stacked tables of varied heights-- so innovative. JC Penny does the same thing....

why you gotta be a smartass?

If you're going to class you probably aren't frequenting restaurants with dress codes. Sneakers are fine, as shah said. And for what it's worth, I wear wingtips to class. That or boots or other 'dress' shoes. Sneakers aren't my thing.

Plus some dress shoes are more comfortable than sneakers. If you can thrift a high-end pair for a few measly bucks, I'll bet you wouldn't feel too bad about wearing them to class.

Great, thanks. So is this shirt available already or what ?

i hear boat shoes are a versatile addition to a wardrobe which can dress up your casual outfit and add a nautical vibe.

    They are a timeless classic.

mikey, homie, listen to me for a mo'. As hard as it is to be surrounded by glittery shit on the internet all the time, believe me when I say you do not need much in college. Use it to figure out what you want. If ever there was a time to buy some shit that you're sure you'll wear every day (as has been said), that time is now. Getting more, more, more, isn't going to make you feel better; it'll make you feel worse. Lurking on SF is fine as long as it's not a) ruining your credit, or b) ruining your social life. Find a pair of Nordstrom bucks on ebay for 25$, wear them with your 2 pairs of pants/denim in the fall and with cropped shorts in the spring. You do not need to pay 130$ for epaulet shirts. You're short, you'll likely need most things tailored - god help me that I'm about to say this - so just shop jcrew on sale for shirts and have them tailored (to fit like BoO). Buy a few of them, even. Figure out what you want, like the inimitable jetdawg has said, and then buy shit you love. It's worth it to buy quality; but dude, you're like 19, worry about shit that matters.

Yah, I agree...mikey you obviously have priorities like snowboarding( dont remember if this was it), so you're not gonna have a lot of dough to spare. I would suggest investing in kicks cuz I agree with you that they make an outfit look best. So, I would definitely blow most of it on shoes, and then yes get some typical button ups. I wouldn't suggest buying from jcrew cuz they have terrible designs anyways. Just kop BoO or whatever is its equivalent on B&S/superfuture or ebay.

I don't necessarily agree that just cuz you're 19 you shouldn't spend a lot on clothes. However, I do sometimes feel like a retard when I pay $200 for shirts. The thing is though im one of those peeps like BB1 mentioned..I can't deal with not wearing something that doesn't give me a sense of individuality.n Dunno if that's how you are, but I say don't kill yourself over this.

Synthese speaks the truth. IME, you won't need much to stand out from the rest of the crowd, just a knowledge of what looks good on you proportionally. That doesn't require lots of dough, just be selective. Spend your hard earned money on things like books, food, women, and alcohol.
