^ Dude, you can't possibly have said that! Jesus, I swore by those during art school and then through five years as a city bike messenger (okay, we're talking '91-'99 here...). I must have gone through two dozen pair (@12.95 at iGoldberg's Army Navy, god bless 'em), and I swear I was convinced I had started the cargo shorts trend. No, really.

(You're welcome GAP - you can send the check to me any day now...)

Best thing about 'em was finding them in various states of wear. Perfect length for me, perfect taper, wore like iron. Never cinched mine - didn't need to, but I always cuffed.

At the very least, I can thank them for helping get me laid in college.

I can't find them anywhere now, or would have bought every pair in my size. Damn. But maybe that's saved them from being 'revived' by some boardroom ass at BR/GAP/JC who thinks they 'discovered' something new...

Yes, b/c in my shawl I won't look like I'm ready to go chop wood. I'll look like I'm ready to hunker down with some nice Scotch in front of the fireplace--which is more realistic to my lifestyle!

It would be nice for the jcrew thread to get buried on page 2 for at least a day.

Not possible, it will always return to the top -- it is like a dead raccoon in the river that gets knocked around a bit but keeps floating back to the top of the water. It floats even more as it becomes bloated.

They looked really good. Not prohibitively expensive either, but payin JPY is a no-no at the current exchange rate. I gotta give it some time.

Also, I hate Red Wings. One of the many SF trends I've scratched my head over.
