What is the stylistic/practical purpose of the ribbed knit hem for sweaters? IME, unless the sweater is at the exact right length, the ribbed hem just creates a weird poof.

the ribbed hem is stable.

stockinette (the usual 'body' pattern) will curl out and up if it's run all the way to the hem, particularly with wool (not so much with linen on the other hand). that's why the bottom hem, cuffs, and neckline are often ribbed - so it stays flat against the wearer and true to length.

cardigans often have a turned hem which you can do with a pullover too. dunno why you don't see it more often but it's out there... there are other ways of dealing with the hems as well.

one thing you can do to tame the poof is soak and block your knits. that'll take some of the piss out of the yarn.

Looking for large, squarish, wire frames like so but also not as crappy.

Those look like a rip of Cartier Romance Santos.

Well, this is going to be an evening long "look at pictures of irrelevant *insert clothing item here*" session.

I was gonna make a snark about "not as creepy".

But, I think this style can work if you got the nads (so to speak). You might look for vintage. These Izod are pretty close:

Don't have rapey facial hair and I'm not missing a chin like Kipp -- so that's a plus.

I wear a tuxedo when traveling and buy a coach ticket allllll the way back in the plane.

That way, when I board, I can walk the full length of the plane, giving each person's outfit a disapproving look and slowly shake my head.
Never done that but I have changed into a tux in an airplane lav when I had to touch down and head right to an event. Makes you feel like Superman in the phone booth.

May I suggest announcing as you embark "It is, of course, merely a palliative – but it has often been found in times of despondency that the assumption of formal evening dress has a stimulating effect on the morale."

New Fear of God. Don't understand how he can blatantly copy Raf - I know the 'originals' are based on Nike Vandals. Is this actually better for Raf as it pushes up the desire of his stuff? Or does no one just care anymore?

Nobody besides us care, raf still king.

Who would be up for a Styleforum 15th anniversary party in Hermosa Beach, and/or one in SF, and one in Florence in early 2018?

I'm coming in sweats.
