1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

When I first discovered the two SFs, I desperately wanted a pair of no 8. Alden captoes (in fact, one of my first posts on this forum was a thread asking if they were too formal for a 16 year old). Over time, I started to get really into the goth-ninja/arte-povera stuff, and that was where I was by the time I finally had any money to spend. As such, I ended up just buying CCP.

However, I needed shoes for a wedding two years ago and happened to look on SF, where I discovered No. 8 captoes, which I promptly purchased. Since then, I also participated in a gmto for some navy Trickers, and bought a pair of Guidi & Rosellini, which kind of straddles the two worlds. I wear all three pairs as "work boots" (I'm a cabinet-maker in training) and save the CCP for less dirty occasions, but I essentially wear all of them with the same set of clothes.

My clothing interests followed a similar path - lots of time with the goth-pov stuff, but recently all I want is Frank Leder and De Bonne Facture and SEH Kelly. I've just always assumed (almost certainly correctly) that no one in my day-to-day life gives a shit what I wear, so there are no rules.

As long as they are paired properly, respectively, you will be fine. Buy both.

    Classic nahneun lol.

I saw Don't Look Back again at the theatre a few weeks ago and was impressed by how cool Dylan and really everybody looked in that film. It was like a peak moment when everyone was either in suits or leather jackets and all of it looked really good.

Don't Look Back was my favorite movie as a teenager. I probably watched it at least weekly for a few years. I was pretty insufferable.

Haha agreed. Coincidentally I met Napoleon Dynamite last week at a conference. He did a few lines from the movie, including:

Man are Dries basics super nice. Went to Need Supply today and they had a few things on deep discount, got a shirt and a raglan sweatshirt for under $90. Now I want more.

Did not even know Need Supply stocked Dries. Don't recall seeing on their website. You can often find nice Dries pieces for good prices on B&S.

IDK, I recognize it's lazy or week-willed or...some vaguely pejorative adjective, but I like being able to shift from one totally different aesthetic to another depending on my mood and the occasion. I'll usually default to a dad-leather jacket, flannel, raw denim, and side- or back-zips, but that doesn't mean there aren't days of rather wear a burgundy 5-zip, drapey u-neck, and 19cm or slouchy sweats tucked into geobaskets. Unrelated: I always like looking for the person at the concert who's trying the hardest. It can be a member of one of the bands, and if you can't figure it out it means that it's you. This time it was definitely the balding, long-haired, bearded guy rocking a full-length fur coat. He looked fucking awesome. (0)
