I agree that is part of it. However, i believe it also depends on the knowledge of item/brand/designer as well. In my case i was re-selling an item that generally doesn't go on sale, at least i've never seen one. Funny thing is i sold a1923 as well and it hits a sale here n there but did not get low ball offers.

Best place to sell items is at the Alameda Flea Market every first Sunday of the month.

Just had an email shot from Flannels and took a look - they've really gone downhill in terms of brands stocked. No Dries, no MMM anymore - great if you want Hugo Boss...

Just had a quick look, their buys seem very commercial and very British "casual" so from a business perspective they are probably very wise. Even though we might find them boring.

DC is doing a little better now that Federal exists but it's not a good shopping town. Vaguely in line w what you asked, there is the Georgetown Barneys, not that it's a good Barneys. And consider Maketto, which mostly has tumblrcore brands, so it may not really be what you're looking for, but I also hear has good food. I am not aware of Geller nor Ervell anywhere in DC.

Do we have a thread on homeware? Would like to read what people have as recommendations for water bottles, glass teapots among other things in terms of good homeware design. Furniture thread comes close, but I only ever lookforward to what SkinnyGoomba is going to post.

Yes it's very much the euro brands that are always found in TKMaxx.

Thanks for the info. What brands might I find at the Georgetown Barneys? I'll check out Marketto, maybe I'll wear my rafdiddas because that's about as close as I get to that look haha.

You're better off going to union station, getting a ticket on Amtrack to NY, and go from there ... DC isn't so great for shopping, but if you're interesting in seeing some nice stuff , Relish has lemaire and Denis colomb (women's)

Mykita also opened just this past week in Georgetown

Yea, unfortunately I only have one night. Maybe I can talk with work and have them extend it so I can go to NYC and stay with friends.

@Coldsnap hah the SA in maketto was wearing rafdidas when i was in there.

barneys--I haven't been in there in about a year, and i've mostly forgotten. it's mostly unimpressive. pics online show, like, hood by air and cdg play cons, and i remember other whatever stuff like theory and paul smith, and of course there's the big denim area. but i do remember an interesting few racks. it's probably skippable, but maybe you should call 'em and see if someone will rattle off the brands list for you.
