That would be interesting.

Perhaps they will start making clothes that have arms that fit a normal sized guy. I swear, every piece of cool Balenciaga that I try on, even if it fits really nicely at the shoulders and through the body, I feel like I will hulk out of the arms. And you guys who have met me know that I don't resemble a yoked out bro in any way (good or bad.)

Is the sizing pretty standard euro suit sizing eg. 52 will be a 36 waist 42 chest in lafont and le laboureur?

well, more or less but it gets a bit confusing. Le Laboureur jackets have a french sizing system (1-6) or so. Im a 4 in the moleskin & linen jackets, and a 3 in the wool jacket. French pants are sized acording to centimeters across so a 44 = 88 cm = around 34 inch. Im usually take a 34 (which of course can be vanity sized), a 44 in Le Lab cords and a 46 in Lafont moleskin. So would probably say that the latter fits slightly small, but might be a vanity size bias, and that im just fatter than I thought.

Here are a size table for Le Lab http://www.lelaboureur.se/main.php?p=content&contentid=5

that's good enough for me, Fok :)

He talks about the sneakers at the Mosque photo series by Toufic Beyhum, I think I have posted it here before but needs a reminder:

this is one of those sharia zones in europe we hear about on the news, isn't it :paranoia:

I think the middle eastern part is the lenghtening + sandals (cool sandals btw) + softer colours + more relaxed torso.

saying that's ME-ish clothes/designs is as legitimate a reference as having tea with me then telling your friends you went on a magic carpet ride across the sand dunes of arabia with aladdin

i do like the sandals though

^ really? I sometimes need a large but never experienced tiny biceps with ghesquiere or wang era balenciaga. then again I'm not looking at it very often.
I think, just from the last time we met, at the last trunk show, that maybe I am just a bit bigger than you. The early Ghesquiere Balenciaga was sometimes sized insanely small. I was living in LA t the time, and about 165 - a pretty well built 165, but still, 165 and about a size 40. I would try on shirts in a 52 that would be skin tight. As in, I looked like a rather less impressive comic book drawing.

Ghesquiere era Balenciaga had stupidly tight arms on most pieces I came across, long time ago though.

My understanding of his interest in designing fromma different viewpoint is that instead of simply providing middle-eastern fashion fare to westerners (cause he's like arabic y'know) he does something a little more complex:

1) Middle-eastern garb as something scary and militaristic to westerners due to current representations.
2) Ok but let's reverse that, what about middle-easterners and their viewpoints on the military garb worn by westerners (when bringing them freedom)
3) Let's take that western military garb and soften it for middle-easterners through incorporating a certain local aesthetic

It is more of an interesting though experiment in shifting viewpoints and public than true "middle-eastern" gear. Anyway read the article once but that is what I got out of it. Reminds me of Amin Maalouf The crusades through arab eyes.

It used to be the tightest brand around. I think it is more normal-sized now but I haven't tried anything in a while and might not do so for a few yrs because, who cares.

I need an app or an add-on or something that lets me save all of Man of Kent's photos as something other than 'LL'.

So my Tim Coppens fishtail parka came in and it's not water resistant or repellent in the slightest

I didn't expect anything uber-technical or anything but hoped it would be okay in a light shower. I just splashed some water on the edge of the sleeve and it soaked right through. :/
