This the first time he's appeared in public this visible? Not a MMM follower, but I've never seen him before until now.

The first interview I know of. I believe he appeared in a video once, briefly when he worked under Gaultier. There are also a couple of photos of him floating around -- a couple published WWD in the 90s and then one when he was out with the Antwerp Six in Tokyo. But he generally doesn't give interviews.

There was an MMM Interview many years ago, but it was with the general creative team. I posted it in the MMM thread. There was also that documentary on Margiela the company, but I don't believe they spoke to Martin himself.

AFAIK there's a video from his first show where you see him. He wasn't Banksy anyway, people knew who he was, I've seen him around with his beret and tight Levi jeans etc. He just wasn't a public figure and avoided presenting himself as such, which at the time and considering his relative celebrity, could be respected. I think what is important here is the fact that he didn't discuss his designs i.e. no itw or artist intent.

If I look dumb in a cardigan am I going to look dumb in a noragi style shirt? Some reason collars do me good. I've got super square shoulders and a barrel chest from lifting. So cardigans just sort of drape wrong on me. I dunno. Might have to just wait to buy a Kapital Kakashi until I can try one in store.

Noragi are hard to pull off if you aren’t Hiroki Nakamura

Dude for sure. I've narrowed it down to; no cross body style, no front ties. Kapital one was my pick because it comes in ripstop fabric and has some dope pockets on the back. Sort of just looks like a cool T shirt instead of playing dress up.

I saw that one, the Kapital, in Tokyo last week, or one like it. Amazing.

Same. I want a long mac or something with a straight closure. Something like this

FWIW, I think DB or asymmetric style coats look good when closed. But those long single-breasted coats, especially that button up all the way to the collar, is going to make you look like a bolt of cloth once you button them up.
