Are these not usually a thin, almost glossy material? I'm looking for the coarser, stouter cotton.

Ah yea, they're not coarse. More of a t-shirt material.

I can't think of who has a crewneck right now in that coarser material. I've seen them in the past from APC and Ralph Lauren, but nothing shows up on their site right now.

Any recs for Breton style shirts with a crew neck? Got a pull up bar for the pandemic and now my boat necks sit funny.
I have an Armor Lux breton that fits that description(crew neck, thick cotton) from some years back. I'm not sure if they still have that particular model anymore, but worth looking

If you do a search on eBay for "telnyashka," you'll find crewneck Breton shirts. They're a style of Russian undershirt and can be had for like $15.

Note that some of them have a high neckline.

Oh gosh I remember old Russian men wearing these :p

doesn't st james use the ropy cotton? looks like they specify weight and have crewneck


edit: yes i dug a thrifted boatneck out of my kiddos closet it's a hard spun heavy yarn stout but not scratchy
